His defensive impacts are not worth that money especially when his contract doesn't let him go until 35ish?

I've seen this trade a few times recently (not a ton). My question is...when was the last hart winner traded? My 1st thought was Thornton, but he won it with SJ. I honestly don't know the answer, but I'd be willing to bet the starting price is ridiculously high. Meaning Cozens and the 2020 1st starts the convo. I don't think BUF should do it...just saying what the convo starts with.

The reality is he doesn’t want to play in Buffalo anyway. The cost of the trade would be crippling, and he doesn’t want to play here.

foolish thing to say. Kane hasn't slowed down one bit. And he carries his own line. Getting Kane immediately solves your 2C issue because Kane can drive his own line just like a center normally would. You can just put Cozens with Kane instead of trading for a 2C. That being said Kane isn't being traded, especially for this

Kane still has 4 years of good hockey left in him. I don't see Chicago letting that go without getting good prospects back. Mittelstadt isn't one.

If Kane is traded to Buffalo I would want Skinner going back the other way. Buffalo cannot take on $10.5M without significantly more money going out.

Kane is definitely worth the money. But Skinner isn't. Buffalo Chills has it correct. Any trade for Kane would have to include Skinner going back. But even then, you'd probably still have to add to this trade.

And why would you care about Kane's defensive impact? During those cup runs I never once was like "Damn, Kane's defensive zone coverage is insane." It was his offensive genius that guided the Blackhawks to those cups. He has poise, superstar skills, he drives plays offensively, and his hockey IQ is off the charts. I can see not wanting both Kane and Skinner because then you have 30 mil tied up on the top line, but to say you don't want him because of his defensive skills is just a ludicrous thing to say.

hmm not really. Kane's contract and age and analytics don't do it for me. But too each their own.

So you're telling me you'd rather have Skinner at 9 Mil instead of Kane at 10.5 Mil?
