Couple of things for this trade to even be a possibility CHI would have to retain half of Kanes contract, because notice how he didn't finish the roster it would be impossible to fill it out with only 2m in cap space. but either way I wouldn't do that trade

Probably couldn't retain half, but 3 million wouldn't be out of the question.

I mean the trade looks good but I just don't think Kane at 32 vs Lafrenière at 18 is worth it

Yeah this comes down to what the Rangers want to do. If they want to compete for a cup for the next 4 years it's worth it. If they are willing to wait 3-4 years to compete then definitely keep the pick.

hawks probably do it. Hawks would need to take salary back but we aren't retaining on Kane. We will take Stall, Hank, or Smith for the year to make it work cap wise. Its up to NYR to make it work long term

Hawks won't retain half. But we can take Hank, Smith, or Stall to make it work for this year. Maybe we retain 2 mil. It's up to the NYR to make it work long term

No way. Why would we do this when most of our roster is younger than 25 and our defense is still developing. Not a chance in hell. This trade is beyond dumb even as a joke.

If in this crazy Covid era, if a really good team had a bad play-in series via just bad luck and got bumped out and won the #1 pick OA and had a roster in their prime, then this makes sense to add Kane to a roster full of guys in their peak to win a cup or two. For New York this doesn't make sense given how young the roster is.
