Only thing that would work imo would be Lundkvist for Lindholm straight up.

I dig what you've done here. Good work.

Just uncertain about the TB trade...can't they really afford taking Heinen in and moving McElhinney.

I confess to being a little conflicted right now. On the one hand, I'm really, really concerned about how thin the prospect pool is and so really don't want to give up high picks. On the other hand, Rickard ****ing Rakell.

I just don't know.

Why would the Rangers trade for Lindholm? Theyre stacked on defense as it is.

How is one of the best SHL defenseman not that good of a prospects? 31 points in 45 games 18+ with Lulea.

Hopefully that 1st will be a later one with the addition of Rakell helping to solidify a 2nd line. Rakell - Duchene - Tolvanen could work (being optimistic here), but also swapping out Jarnkrok for a guy like Rakell that has much more offensive potential and still comes in at a relatively low AAV will give the Preds an option to add a guy in free agency like Hoffman or someone around the $6m range on the 2nd line as well. So the Preds could be looking at Rakell - Duchene - Hoffman, which would be a vast improvement on the second line over Duchene - Turris - Granlund. If the Preds are wanting a shakeup, then I think this is a pretty good place to start. I also feel like Ekholm will be traded before the expansion draft, so he could recoup that 1st round pick that is lost in this deal potentially.

Fair enough. Although I disagree on the Ekholm trade idea; I suspect Poile goes 8/1.

Because he wouldn't step in the the NHL and do it. He was also supported by Gustafsson both years he has been there. Is a very good prospect, probably one of the top 10 outside the NHL but I dont think he gets you Lindholm by himself, it's like Habs fans saying Caufield is worth Lindholm by himself, it's just not true. Until they come into he league and play they dont have full value

I love this trade for the Preds. The only thing that would make it better is giving Watson instead of Jarnkrok, but I'd be ok with trading Jarnkrok in this deal.

Nils stays, even for Hampus, because of future cap, age, considering we'd also lose Lindgren to Seattle. TBL would rather their good cheap backup and pick than another mini Gourds. Doubt NSH trades their 1st.

That's fully based off how I think NYR management view Nils as a prospect tbh. I would give the extra pick and prospect because I think he's worth it but after the Trouba trade that PTSD could effect a trade from being to lopsided since they won't offer as much.

It will be interesting to see whether Kodie Curran makes an impact in the NHL before Nils Lundkvist.

Nils Lundkvist is signed for another year with Lulea so that offsets. I think Nils will be insane but couldn't he terminate the deal if an NHL opportunity was necessary in Anaheim?

Maybe; depends upon the contract. But you're right, NY isn't trading Lundkvist.

Don't get me wrong tho, I love Lindholm and NYR is lucky to not have me as GM because I'd overpay to get him here.

They're not.

Their defense was a big reason why they got f*cked against Canes.

They have no depth on the left side and pretty much all of their RHDs are more or less offensive D-men.

This isnt a today or tomorrow defense. Its probably 2 years away when K'Andre and Nils are ready to come and take the next step.
