While he is on the ice, he produces at a 50 point pace. He may miss games to injury, as anyone would... this isn't hard to understand...
Like I said, we take the stats at face value.
Because that is what you can expect to get.
He's a 40 point guy. Over the last 4 years, that is basically what he has produced.
It is what it is. Stop trying to make it something it's not.
When teams negotiate a contract they don't go, well he was 50 point pace on the ice....for the 30 games he was there so he's worth a fortune.
No they say, well he put up so many points a season. It is what it is.
It's why people view Bjugstad as "negative" value. He's hurt, when he's hurt he does nothing. Even though when he's not hurt he's produced fairly well.
It is what it is. Bjugstad doesn't hold some great value because of his time not on the ice. Why should any other player hold value for their time not on the ice.
Because it benefits your argument in this believe that somehow he's worth more than he actually is. No.
in 4 years he's had the opportunity to produce at more than a 40 point pace. 4 freaking years. He got it together to do so for 1 year.
That's it. You can have every excuse in the world, but in 4 years, he's basically stated with his play that he's a 40 point player.
And that is that.
