I just can’t see that getting the 5th overall.

How do they not do this? They already have brannstrom and Lassi.

They get a right side replacement for drysdale if they were to draft him they get an young already competent and progressing LD who will have a low cap hit and they get a 60+ point Winger locked in

They would be silly not too with 2 other picks in the first round

I’m not sure ottawa does this.
I’m also not sure it’s great for Toronto either... Drysdale obviously looks to be a top dman one day but why not trade nylander for a dman that is good now? i also don’t think this happens unless Toronto knows Drysdale will be available. aka the three minutes that ottawa has to decide who to pick.

Cmon. You see what you’re doing here. You propose this trade so it would appear that you think it would be a good idea for the leafs, and then turn around and try to make the case that this really favors the senators. So why are the leafs doing it?

I’ll tell you why the senators don’t do it:
Nylander is a darn good player, but is he a franchise player? Nowhere near. His contract is okay, but isn’t a must have or anything. Liljigren is an intriguing prospect if i were to try to be kind. He had a solid season in the AHL, but I didn’t think he impressed in the NHL.

So you’ve got a crap shoot prospect, and a winger that prevents you from bottoming out, but doesn’t get you to a point of contention......OR, you have a 5th overall pick, likely a very good player with three years of an entry level deal, and the chance that he becomes a franchise player.

No brainer.

Ottawa isn’t moving #3 period, and the only way they move #5 is down a couple spots to #7 to nab Askarov and another 1st if they decide to go that route. Like I’ve said before, the most I see them offering for Nylander is the NYI 1st+Brown+Jaros, but they aren’t proposing that deal

OTT declines.

The 5OA is perfect for our rebuild. Willie doesnt have team control.

We would do the NYI 1st + 33OA + CBrown?
