BAERTSCHI is hard to spell

Description
Sometimes the boring trades are the best trades

Maybe Nucks could get a 3rd for Demko.
Maybe Baertschi probably takes a 3rd to dump his cap.
We traded a 4th rd to get Erne from Tampa, maybe he becomes a useful 4th liner for VAN.
Demko gets a bigger opportunity to become a number 1, but I’m not holding my breath.

Does this Turris deal work? I don’t even know anymore.

Wings sign a LD to a two year deal this offseason. ONE of these are realistic options.

Is his value affected by the fact that, short of a trade he is a "future high end starter" for Seattle?
I'm putting high end starter in quotes not because I don't think he has the potential to be, but goalies are voodoo and he could just as easily bust and be a backup or bounce between AHL and NHL. The talent level of AHL goalies is still incredibly high which is why that kind of career is such a possibility even at this stage.

Which is fine, but the Canucks aren't gonna trade him just because you value him as a 3rd rounder they'll just keep him then. My point is that the return has to be worthwhile for the Canucks to trade him

Oh absolutely, much as I would like Detroit to get Demko, I don't think it makes sense as part of a cap dump deal. I would be far happier to do so in a separate deal. Based on past precedent somewhere between a 2nd and a 3rd is fair value for a guy with Demko's pedigree at the moment, Detroit's own 3rd is at the start of the round, so that's the deal I would be looking at.

If you look at the history of goalie trades the return is hardly ever high. The major exception being Schneider, and that should be enough to put teams off doing that again.

Had me curious so I googled
