Carolina missed their opportunity to sign this kid, I have a feeling they'll regret it.

Grades out as a bottom 6 guy if he can make the NHL. More than likely a AAAA kind of guy.

I'll be on the "No" side this time.
Boston's getting close to their contracts limit by signing a marginal player that more than likely won't make it to the NHL, he can play a physical game which is why I think Boston went for him but had limited point production after 4 years in the AA. Aged 22 he still has a raw skillset and will have to prove himself against bigger guys so the transition might be harder than some think. I doubt that they've signed him to the max ELC as showed right now (Lack of real numbers) but being that close to the cap I just don't see enough upside to warrant the signing, if it was an AHL deal it would've made more sense but not a two-way contract.

They have 36 guys under contract for next season, so they have 14 open spots.

DeBrusk, Grz, Chara, Krug, Seny, Khulman, Carey, Zboril & Vladar are the guys I'd expect them to re-sign (Kurg 50/50 on). That's 9 spots taken (assuming Krug re-signs) and leaves Boston with 5 open spots to sign guys.

The roster spot was the last and smallest reason why I'm against this signing, he hasn't progressed much through time and shouldn't get a 2M$ contract on a cap tight team. (Assuming they resign Krug which I think they will)

It's a $925k cap hit for 2 seasons and its an ELC. He'll most likely spend both years in the AHL and it'll have no impact on the Bruins cap.

very few teams will sign 50/50 though
Most will go 48-47 ish.
They leave themselves opportunity at the end of the year for possible NCAA signings.
