Would buffalo do this

Created by: arafay
Team: 2020-21 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 17, 2020
Published: Aug. 17, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The top 7 goes like: Lafreniere, Stutzle, Byfield, Rossi, raymond, drysdale, holtz, and now buffalo is up. They can either draft yet another centre (even though they have cozens coming up) or can move down 2 spots and go for a winger like Quinn, Jarvis, or gunler. Imo, move down and get solid assets in return.

The jets on the other hand get their playmaking 2c of the future. How dynamic would the 3 of ehlers, perfetti, laine look together. Laine with the amazing shot and size, ehlers with his dynamic speed and skill, and perfetti who can create offence out of nothing.

Edmundson and haula get signed as stopgap options until Samberg and heinola are ready for those roles.

A center. Lundell probably doesn’t drop to 10th and there aren’t any centers for a while after that. Also I love perfetti’s game. Is this worth buffalo’s while? Anyways, if buffalo wants a goal scoring winger, then they can just wait until 10 to take quinn (arguably the best one this year) and let the jets take their c. It’s win win!

It depends on who takes Sanderson and Askarov , if they go top 8, a forward will drop to Winnipeg at 10. If not, Winnipeg doesn’t have interest in Sanderson/Askarov and would have to select from that tier below, which they shouldn’t do. Winnipeg needs one of Rossi, Perfetti, Lundell

Perfetti or Lundell would/should be their desired players. Likely, Perfetti will go 8 and Lundell 9. That leaves the Jets with Sanderson as BPA or drafting for positional need. Moving up to 8 should get them one of their two desired centers.

I think Perfetti goes before 8

Someone from the top 10 each year always ends up disappointing. For me, Perfetti is that guy. And I see him has a wing not center in the NHL. And maybe he doesn’t disappoint, but I still see him having the longest development timeline of all the top prospects. Just my opinion, I know a lot of people like him and there are good reasons why

I think I’d still take lundell over Perfetti tbh, I think he’ll end up as a winger in the NHL. Jets have lots of experience with fins and they need a solid 2way C and that’s what lundell is.

This is interesting, although I would prefer not the second round, and the roster player, Copp or Roslovic could very well be of interest to Buffalo, and little I know about Niku.

Imo, I would still trade up to take perfetti instead of lundell if I’m the jets.

Depends. But imo, all other teams likely are getting exactly what they need before that. Perfetti is the odd man out of the top 8. That said, I wouldn’t be surprised if he goes earlier

I like perfetti more. He is great at creating time and space which is exactly what laine needs and the only thing keeping homg from playing centre is his skating which has improved dramatically over quarantine. As good as lundell is in his own end, perfetti is no slack either. He is also smarter than lundell imo and the difference in the offensive upsides of lundell and perfetti is much greater than those on the defensive side. Imo, the jets take perfetti all day.

The jets can’t trade either right now since the status of little is in the air. Even if the issue was resolved I wouldn’t move either to get 2 spots ahead. The early 2nd and a future top 4 d should be enough. Last year, moving from 14 to 11 only cost the 45th pick. Since this is slightly higher up I added niku, though it’s not that different.

I think that's a bit too high of a price to move up 2 spots

I disagree, imo the difference between perfetti and lundell is a potential elite player. Perfetti can be an offensive demon (think Kyle connors shot + Nikolaj ehlers’ ability to create time and space + wheelers passing ability + scheifele makes hockey iq). That’s how I see him. Imo if we have the chance to move up and take perfetti, I do it no questions asked. I see him as a future 1c caliber player. Like barzal but replace his speed with his shot

Sounds like you know what you're talking about. I guess this would need to be one of those "draft floor deals" made right before the pick

Exactly. I would only do this if perfetti is still on the floor at 8 on draft day. I highly doubt he gets past Minnesota so I’d trade up for him
