Description
I dont feel D was the big issue, but rather Team D.

Putting guys on proper lines and allowing them to use thier skill sets better should allow for better success (Kassian 3rd line)

Goaltending big upgrade, backup dont care really, pay a guy $1M a year as lots of veterans getting squeezed this year.

Lehner signed a 1 year $5M deal last year and was late to sign after an outstanding year. he wants term and security and has proven he is worth the risk. Can cover up mistakes.

Scoring lines in better shape.

benning is not my favourite, but here's hoping he would take a 2 year deal versus a 1 year offer.

bouchard time has come, can shleter minutes and let him help on PP

swap Domi for Drouin

Domi is the target, Drouin adds to our floating around type players...interested in Domi, could alter trade but player is the preference here

The Montreal deal is likely wishful thinking - AA’s value is at an all-time low and Pulijarvi is widely seen as a bust.

Like the Toronto deal.

Ottawa deal is unrealistic - that’s about 10M going one way without any contracts coming back. Also, both Russell and Koskinin have (limited) No Movement Clauses and neither would waive them to go to the Senators.

Finally, you’re missing a fourth line RW. Playing two men instead of three on this line puts the Oilers at a distinct disadvantage. wink

I’m assuming Leon was put on third line by mistake?
No way look at that Ottawa deal kosk is fine was all year worst he looked was in the play in series and wouldn’t put too much weight on that after months off. Including russell and benson is just giving away useful players and options. Habs deal id much rather see jp back with Edmonton over domi really not sure why people think he’s what Edmonton needs. I don’t think in position to sign him nor do I think he would fit in with the top six. The make up of oilers top six is very different play style than habs I could see Tatar or Drouin both thriving in Edmonton over domi.

Anytime you can give away $10M in cap space in today's world is a win to address team needs. OTT might look as it is only committment to Koski for 2 years, Russell off the books and only costs $1.5M in real dollars.

Domi is an NHL player with some sandpaper, something clearly the play in shows Oilers were short of. I think Tatar and Drouin are more soft skill, which I think we have filled already.

Just my opinion of course!

Fair enough. I just look at Tatar skill set being explosive next to mcdavid and Drouin skill set explosive with Leon. The sand paper can be added into the bottom six in my opinion. Domi plays bigger than he is I think he gets away with that more in the east than would in the west. While I do respect that ability and fearless mentality not sure it would translate over to the same effectiveness.
