Initial Creation Date: Aug. 17, 2020

You are the guy that wrote off Robertson and now you are backtracking.

you literally said hes going to be an elite player and I said to tone down your expectations LMFAO. I love Robertson, he played hockey with my brother when they were young. He's a class act and I wish him the best. I just said, the last thing this kid needs is more delusional leafs fans like yourself holding the bar for him as this 90 point player and giving him such high expectations to fill. You are the WORST kind of fan

I agree except McDavid could have got more and still have been worth it. Just think of it this way. Marner is a winger, which is not a bad position but when compared to the value of a center you would shy away. So if someone Marners age with the same skill who was a center getting paid the same would be worth more probably. I'm just saying like trade Marner to the Minnesota wild. How much better does it actually make them? Or does it leave them still with a gap at center and a lot of assets lost. I personally wouldn't trade for Marner on any team. Only wingers worth that much IMO are Panarin and Kane...maybe Kucherov.

Yeah I did say that it was a bit exaggerated. But so is his apparently perceived value from this guy's post. Latest one which I opened was something like Marner for Hornquist+Johnson...I've lost faith in this guys ability of evaluating players and contracts.

As for Marner in everywhere else, it's a bit of a question mark. He's played his whole career with elite centers, so it's hard to say whether he'd be on the same kind of roll in Minnesota or somewhere else...granted he wouldn't solve the weakness of lacking centers for that team.

Just block that guy. You won't lose anything of value. After he claimed Sandin to be the next Lidstrom I just lost all respect for the guy's ability to understand anything related to hockey.

LMFAO yeah im the jealous one of the leafs when ive seen more winning in the last 10 years than you'll ever see your entire life. get out of here you clown. you're actually one of the worst accounts on this site and give leafs fans a bad name. he is overpaid because he has the 7th highest AAV in the league and hes not even a top 20 player. Rantanen signed for 9.25 million compared to Marner's massive 10.893 million deal when they have similar numbers. Stone signed a 9.5 X 8 year extension when hes a better player than Marner. kucherov signed a 9.5 deal after a 100 point season. At the end of the day, there is absolutely no denying that Marner is overpaid. And whether it is his fault, or his Dad's fault, it was greedy and it hurts the team moving forward when it comes to winning a cup. It was a selfish move by the Marner camp and I don't respect him for it

Marner hired an quality agent and his agent and the Leafs negotiated a fair market contract for him. For you to say he was greedy shows you have no concept of how an actual business negotiation actually
works.

This is not a troll post, just my experimentation to see if the Leafs can fit both Pietrangelo and Hall if they move Marner. I just put no effort in the Marner trade.

You said he quit to peruse a YouTube career.... then edited and reported me for calling it stupid.

Once again, you have tunnel vision and lack the ability to look out into the future. You probably also think Quinn Hughes does not play a little like Bobby Orr. .... Just tired of your repeated negativity to anything you do not agree with.

This is a silly argument. There have been a lot of players that have played with elite centres and majority of them haven’t had the success Marner has at 23 yrs of age no less. Again, I’m not saying he’s a franchise winger, my opinion of him is he’s an elite winger that will produce at a high pace. It can be argued that JT and Matthews may not have produced the way they did without Marner, but you’ll never know.

you are probably a 12 year old when I literally have a Bachelors of Business administration. Don't even go there buddy. Marner's agent did a fantastic job for his client. No doubt about that. But Dubas overpaid and there is absolutely no denying that. A lot of guys take smaller contracts to win, Marner did not, he did the exact opposite. You cannot even sit here and justify him making market value when I just showed SEVERAL examples that his market value is 9-10 million range.

Marner got his fair market value. Do you really think the Leafs would agree to over pay him by $1,500,000 if they did not think he was worth the value.......Nice you have a Bachelor of Business Administration and i will put my Bachelor of Commerce and post university degrees up against you any day of the week.

I'm starting to think that goaltending may be an issue that needs to be addressed. Marner will not be a cap dump.

I'm not disputing that he wouldn't be an elite player in somewhere else than Toronto. But by the same token it's hard to say how him playing with worse center would affect his point totals, because he has been playing his whole career with Matthews and Tavares.

IDK if Kadri counts as an elite center but Marner played with him for 40 games in 2017/18, put up 45 points. His WAR that season was 2.5. Pretty good if you ask me.

To be fair Marner was playing his 2nd year in the league back then.

The Marner back then and the Marner now are two completely different players in this sense. Marner scored, what, two point less this year, with playing 23 games less.

Marner started the 2017/18 season really poorly, he couldn’t generate any offence & got put on the fourth line with Martin & Moore for the For the first 30 games. After getting put on a line with Kadri, he started to discover his current level.

To be honest, I don't think that team is better.

Marner is at least as good as Hall. Probably better given the role he plays on the PK.

Adding Pietrangelo helps, but he's not going to sign for two years anyway. There are so many other options to improve the team.

Obviously not a realistic scenario, but what'd y'all think of this team I constructed? Should they win the Stanley Cup?

Top 6 is worse, defensive depth is arguably worse but Leafs get a better 1st pairing, bottom 6 is worse.

For the Leafs to actually improve while moving Marner, they'd have to bring in 2 legitimate RD, not just swap Marner and Piet essentially
