Wow waited 2 whole days before he rights with Colorado expired. He was the 2016 pick right after Debrincat. How many other "draft buddies" are there on a team? I know Boston picked like 3 in a row in the first round in 2015

Well this was a pleasant surprise IMO. This will also extend a pretty large trade tree. Brad Stuart was part of the Joe Thornton trade to SJ. Only time will tell how far it goes.

It's OK we gave you Danault for a bag of hot farts

It's ok, I'd still chose Danaul, Romanov and Shaw over Debrincat, Fleishmann, Weise and Chad Krys.

The answer is TBD. We don't know how any of these guys careers are going to play out. Debrincat's score more goals last year than any Hab since Stephane Richer....in 1989.

Ok I'll rephrase.
I'd still take Danault and Shaw over Debrincat, yes he score goals but a -most likely back to back- top 10 Selke trophy finalist's something that the team needed after Koivu and Plekanec were gone (In fact they just needed a center but whatever), him being paid 3M$, racking up 50 points on average per year and being an hometown guy is more valuable to me than goals.
Than I'd take the unknown of Romanov over the unknown of Chad Krys any given day.
It helped both team because Chicago needed a cheap goal scorer on the LW to help with secondary scoring, whereas Montreal needed a shutdown center and LD help. Hockey wise I think this trade (A mix of both of them) ended up helping both teams in a big way, if not Montreal would score goal but won't have twice the amount going in and the Hawks would have the deadliest center line in the NHL but couldn't score -remove 20/40 goals a year- on the wings.
I'd say we're still friends.

wish him luck but he was never going to make teh Avs NHL roster and he just hasnt progressed in his 4 years at ND. Below average skating but solid hockey IQ. He could turn into a decent 4th line player on the right team or he could be a career AHLer.

Avs never made him an ELC offer, they talked about him going pro the previous offseason, didnt progress this year and Avs just cut their loses
