Leafs are the last team in the league that should be taking on salary dumps

I dont get why Leaf fans continue to blame goalies and ship them out when the defense has been hanging them out to dry for 15 years.
Stop blaming the goalies and start holding management culpable.
I’ll be honest. The problem is there is only one team in toronto and if you stop going to games because of terrible management there is always going to be another sucker to take the tickets for a weeks salary for another 60 minutes of defensive breakdowns.

Need young RHDs so it makes total sense to trade Timothy Liljegren

Wings pass, not giving up Zetterberg and a 2nd when there is zero reason too. He makes 1 million in actual money, we do not have cap issues and if traded his contract is an asset not an anchor as he can be on LTIR and cost nothing due to insurance.

NO DEAL

why tf would the red wings pay the leafs a good asset to take Zetterberg when they can easily fit him under or move him to LTIR if cap space is needed for some reason

Don't know why the Pens would want one year of Anderson over the move controllable years of Murray. Sens and Wings have no reason to give up a good pick for players on LTIR.

Andersen has been an issue for 3 years now. He's not a big game performer. You're right. Management shoulda been looked at 3 years ago when they didn't move him.

So why does Detroit trade Hank? He’s LTIR and insured so we effectively just move down in the draft for nothing.

I'm confused as to why teams with space (Det and Ottawa) would have any reason to send those two guys and picks to you?

I dont get why Leaf fans continue to propose Murray for Andersen, I guess I just don't get why PIT would do that? Andersen is the better goalie, but an expensive UFA to be in an offseason with similar options available (lehner, Holtby, etc...) and PIT want to start Jarry so why would they trade Murray for another goalie.

I know leaf fans want Murray and its the quickest straight line to trade Andersen for him, but it makes no sense to me.

Ottawa needs Gaborik to reach the floor if we don't take on cap dumps, we aren't trading him lol, least of all for losing a 2nd?!? Even if we reached the floor without him and were somehow approaching the ceiling, we'd just slap him on LTIR. Wings say the same thing.

When you break down the trade it provides a long term goalie solution for toronto as well as an expansion advantage for pittsburgh

If pittsburgh moves forward with a Murray/Jarry tandem, then one will be exposed to expansion. Andersen keeps pittsburgh from having to expose Jarry

Financial crisis where ottawa especially (not sure about detroit situation) is trying to spend to the floor. In real dollars They rather move gaborik and save the actual dollars paid

Reasoning:

Why TML does it: Gets a long term goalie solution for 5-6 years on a cost controlled contract

Why Pittsburgh does it: Murray is moved regardless. It just depends what they want in return. If they have full trust in Jarry to be a #1 and promote DeSmith to a #2 then they can trade murray to anything. But if they only see Jarry as a 1B then they are going to go for a expansion free goalie. With Andersen up next summer, Pittsburgh will not protect him, nor would Seattle take him as there is the risk of him not even extending with them. If Pitt were too keep both murray and Jarry then one would be exposed to seattle. Similiar to what Fleury/ Murray was like to vegas. Don't think they want to go through that again. Post Expansion draft, If pitt likes the andersen performance they can choose to resign him.

So they're shedding a contract, that in all likelihood is insured...how does that get them closer to the floor, when they've only got $41 mil invested next year?

There is zero reason that Pittsburgh would take Anderson. Not on the ice, not in cap, not in salary, zero.

Gaborik is owed like 650k in real money from the team, and has nearly 5mil cap hit.
