He's been on the Ottawa Senators. That isn't trying to be mean to sens fans. It's just realistic. He'll be a much better player on the Hawks. If I'm the guy that rips on Andreas Johnsson, Zach Kassian, and Anisimov because they're stats are inflated because of their line mates....I AM THAT GUY. Then I think we need to consider the opposite too. This guy is going to be in his prime soon and still locked up for $4.75M. I'd do this deal and FAST.

yeah he looked real good with Stone and even with Kane for Team USA. Hes not a play driver but he can put up points quite well playing with skilled guys

I was more looking at it more from the cap pov for the Hawks. They'll have to make cap space somewhere, which will be even harder now that one of the more obvious buyouts has been moved for a nearly identical cap hit. I think White could be a pretty good player with the Hawks, but his cap hit means that someone else is going to have to go, and the most likely option is Crawford not being resigned and Smith either being bought out or traded. I don't think the Hawks see this trade and immediately say "oh yeah lets do this," I think they would and should strongly consider it, but I don't see this happening without other moves being made.

so white becomes our 3c. Obviously in this scenario we would probably be moving out Strome to acquire defensive help. What White has for 5 years is likely what strome would command for a longer term deal, or probably only a million more than what he would get on a bridge. Being locked up for 5 years is huge with all the cap uncertainty we have

White is probably more suited for a top 6 RW spot

Usually your trades are pretty on point in my eyes, but gotta say the Hawks trade is a real bad one. That's selling awfully low on White, and also looks really bad on Ottawa to move him out right after signing. Would never happen. He had a slow start to the year due to injuries and a massive change in responsibility and linemates under DJ but picked it up and was on fire at the end. He's poised for a bounceback and should not be traded in a bad package like that at this point. When he and Batherson were paired together to finish the year, they both looked like completely different players. I'm not worried. Plus, Nylander isn't good enough to play on that top line.

Also, Rossi would be a bad pick at 5. He doesn't project well as a center and would probably end up as a winger if he makes it at all, he isn't NHL ready yet, there are simply better players available, and he will likely go in the latter half of the top 10 (as he should). He's a dangerous pick for whomever takes him, so luckily the Sens won't be the idiots that do it. Luckily they've been linked to Raymond, yay!

i just dont see Stutzle as a C and unless LA takes him, we will still be needing a C

Rossi is even smaller than Stuzle and play similar games. I dont see the point in drafting both. If we miss on Byfield I think trading the NYI pick for a higher pick to take Lundell or Lapierre or trying to trade for another teams center makes more sense. I just see Rossi as a worse version of Stuzle

What do you think about trading up to two to get Byfield guarnteed? Could try a package with 5OA and go after both Stuzle and Byfield. I like the idea of trading 5OA and assets to move up to one or two.

We're legit better off banking on 1C Brown/Norris/Pinto than we are relying on Rossi to be a 1C. If we blow 5th overall hunting for a center prospect (which Dorion explicitly said we won't be doing, he said BPA all day every day, so this is all a moot point), we've destroyed the rebuild we've built up to. Especially when that "C prospect" is a guy who numerous sources can't stand as a prospect, a number of scouts don't see as a center whatsoever, and most places have him ranked at the end of the 10. We should not be reaching for a center or we'll end up missing out on the Quinn Hughes's for the Jesperi Kotkaniemi's. It's the absolute worst way we can handle this draft. Stutzle has just as much a chance of being a center as Rossi does, if not more, and at least he's not a reach at the pick. Stutzle/Byfield and Raymond/Perfetti are the way to go. Solve D next year in the D heavy draft, not the weak D draft this year, and the C will work itself out.
