You don't want a 27 year old goalie in his prime with 2 rings for a guy who won't be in chi in a year?

That's a slam dunk for both teams. Chi gets a goalie, and cap space, Pitts doesn't lose Murray in the expansion draft, and adds a 2 way forward hometown kid.

Ottawa declines. Smith would only be taking a spot away from a better player and his cap hit alone is worth more incentive than you're offering.

don't worry neither would the penguins.

They don't want rental Saad.
They will get a legitimate asset for Murray. Probably a 1st round pick or a young solid defensive prospect of some sort.

Murray for Saad

Pittsburgh does not want an overpaid $6M forward. Even if you retain 50% Pittsburgh probably passes.

Not much. He's a throw in. Big piece there is de haan. Devils need a serviceable top 4 D.

Saad is better than pretty much any forward than Crosby, malkin, or guentzal.

You won't get much better offers. Every knows the pens have to trade a goalie.

They aren't getting a 1st for Murray. The pens have to trade a goalie. Its a flat cap. Saad is one of the better offers they would get.

Ottawa will take its formee captain back for one season at a relatively cheap cap hit to get another asset in a 4th round pick.

Don't be dumb.

Better is opinion, higher cap is fact though. The Pens would be better off trading Murray for a 3rd than for a $6M Saad. Even if Blackhawks fans homerism cause them to think that Saad is more than he is. I know Blackhawks fans want to get rid of that $6M cap hit, which is why they keep trading him, but that doesnt mean that you are getting a starting goalie for him straight.

But... Zucker is better, Rust is better. Hornqvist is older and slower but does a lot more. That makes Saad #7F at best, and only 2 have a higher cap hit.

With Ty Smith coming up next year, we might not need a top 4 that much but I get what you mean

yeah, they will, and no they don't "have" to trade a goalie.

Hell TB has to make trades as well. They still got a 1st for Miller last year.

It's bad opinions like these that get "gudbranson costs a 1st to move" all over cap friendly only to make you people look like fools when the penguins get a 6th round pick or whatever for him.

You aren't offering a 4th, you're swapping a 4th for a 5th while dumping $3.25M in cap and clearing a roster spot. Ottawa has LOADS of cap space but not a lot of roster spots. If Ottawa is taking cap dumps it will be for actual compensation, and there are a LOT of desperate teams out there. But hey, if calling me dumb makes you feel smarter, go for it.

I'm swapping a high 4th for a low 5th.

Veteran leadership is important to young teams.

You are dumb if you think ottawa is rolling a whole roster of kids.

No, Zucker and rust are not better than saad. Hornqvist? Bahahaha.

And that trade isn't dumping saad's contract. It's swapping it for Murray's who is going be about the same thing.

Maybe if you watched other team than just the Blackhawks you would have an idea on player contributions and values.
