Id say COL would accept depending on whether or not Tatar would agree to a reasonable extension at the time of the trade.

Tatar with an extension would be even more expensive. Him as a rental alone is a 1st and a prospect

Delusional.
One year rental isnt worth a 1st and an NHL ready center prospect (especially for just a player of Tatars caliber)

2 points in 8 playoff games this year and same with vegas in 2018. 11 pts in 33 career playoff games. not only does he not step up in playoffs, he steps down. why would the avs trade a 1st and a good prospect like bowers for that.

Avs dont need tatar, vegas overpaid for him when they traded a 1st 2nd 3rd so MTL thinks they can get around the same... they cant

You realize teams pay a 1st and a prospect all the time for rentals of Tatars calibre? he had 61 points in 68 games this year. Not saying Bowers would be the prospect but if you think Habs fans are delusional to think they get a 1st and a prospect for Tatar as a rental then you havent been watching trade deadlines close enough over the past couple years

I think youve got to take into consideration the strength of Tatars linemates vs his competition those playoff rounds.
Yeah 33gm 11pts isnt ideal, but compare to a guy like Burakovsky (another scoring top 6 winger).
2016-2017 13gm 6pts
2017-2018 13gm 6pts
2018-2019 7gm 2pts
Similar production and he played on a much better offensive team (WSH) than Tatar in MTL (and those declining DET teams), but no one in COL made the argument of "bad pickup - not a playoff performer".

You also have to consider the actual pieces COL gives up.
The 2022 1st is going to be in the #25-32 range while the CHI 2nd is in the #45 range (loss of +/- 15-20 spots).
Bowers became less importance with the pickup of Newhook.
1C - MacKinnon
2C - Kadri/Newhook
3C - Compher/Jost
4C - Bellemare/Bowers?

no excuses for tatar. 2 points in 8 games isn't good in montreal. it's even worse in vegas. not sure i understand the bura comparison since his numers are much better and he's only 25. tatar will be 30 this year so his best years are behind him.

the picks are fine in the trade. i'm concerned about giving up bowers. he's almost nhl ready. newhook will fill in for kardi long term. bowers is there to fill in the bottom 6. having newhook doesn't make bowers expendable. i'd be willing to move them for the right deal but this aint it.

The Bura comparison was to show that a scoring winger playing elsewhere with 33 playoff games and 14 pts could come to COL and be more effective then where he was before.
Tatar would be more productive in COL top 6 than MTL top 6 (heck look at Donskoi numbers so far, Tatar would exceed that easily)

Ill stand by my point that Bowers isnt as valuable.
Ive listed the COL depth at C:
1C - MacKinnon
2C - Kadri/Newhook
3C - Compher/Jost
4C - Bellemare/Bowers

You telling me you dont add Tatar to the top 6 in fear of missing out on Bowers as a 4C stuck behind Jost and Compher (with no NHL experience to being with)?

You're giving way way too much for Hertl, Edmonton shouldn't touch that trade unless Gallagher is coming with an extension, even if he is take Rodrique or Pulujarvi out of the deal, too much for Tatar as well with or without an extension, doubt that Sergachev is signing an offersheet from Montreal.

A lot of Sharks fans have been saying Hertl moving to MTL starts with Caufield coming the other way. I agree with that sentiment, but this is an overpay from MTL. You don’t have to add that much! Keep Caufield in there, but you can remove some other assets.
