Nice team

Team: 2020-21 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 11, 2020
Published: Aug. 19, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I don't know that Hank is going to retire, but it seems that everyone is suddenly implying that the org is gonna tell him he's not gonna dress or something. If he wants to play hockey, that it won't be as a Ranger. I'm not confident that Hank is willing to sit out for the sake of a paycheck. He's made almost 100 mil in his career as a Ranger alone. Some things are worth more than money when you have that much. This relies a bit on that. But since these are thought experiments, I'm running with it.

I don't see the hype around Fil at all. Reminds me of how attached people got to Buch when we had nothing else in the pipeline. Hopefully the additions take some pressure of of him.

I'm willing to do the Brodin trade without Donato even if it's an over pay. Brodin is the kind of asset that makes sense to overpay for. Minnesota's cupboards are bare.

Adding Rakell would be huge IMO. This is a move we can afford and it would take the first line to another level while our kids continue to develop.

We keep our future 1st's and leftover cap space in case we need to make additions at the deadline in the future. Or we can use them if we don't make the playoffs.

Still weak "down the middle", though Idk that this is really our problem.

Dude you literally made us worse. Like these are significant overpays that don’t help. Especially when Nils isn’t coming over this year and Miller may or may not be able to step in right away. And those trades are utterly ridiculous favoring the other teams.

you overpay for pieces that you need when you can afford it.

in what way is this team worse? Say Miller doesn't make it. How much worse is Hajek than Lindgren and how much does that contribute to this team's success? Rakell is a significant improvement on Buch. The only loss here is TDA's offense, and he's one dimensional. We're good.

The point of assets is to use them to improve your team. This team is deep and it does it without breaking the bank or bringing in players exiting their prime.

We get the better players in exchange for assets we don't need and lottery tickets. It's almost like you people forgot we signed Panarin.

Buch to Rakell is not worth DeAngelo, Skinner, a 3rd and 2nd. Rakell isn’t some top end player. He’s a higher end Buch and not worth that cost to upgrade when we’ve got Kakko to take the top line at some point leaving Buch on the 2nd line.

I’m fine with trading for Brodin, but no chance were trading Lindgren as well in the deal. Plus we better be keeping him (extension) to trade one of our best forward prospects in addition to a first that would be better served in a package for a center.

NYR decline both.

I don't see the point in being cheap when looking for in demand assets in exchange for assets that don't fit your long term vision, and will have to make decisions on in the near future anyway. I think you sell high on Tony even in this trade and get Brodin from MIN in an offer they can't refuse. I also put in a replacement for BL with more upside in Donato.

This is just my opinion. I think this a relatively responsible trade, even if it feels like the other teams came up. Neither are even in our conference.

I disagree. I think they'd deal him in a heart beat for Brodin. He's got heart but he's not a top 4 guy. You don't hold onto that type of player when you're trading for one of the best defensive d in the league.

I chose to deal the assets I did because you have to make decisions on them in the near future anyway, and they don't fit into the long term plan. Maybe you can get more from ANA for what I offered. Throw the picks on there, idc that's not the point. Make the margins what they need to be for you. Rakell is much much better than Buch. This is as much getting rid of having to pay TDA as it is getting a player that fits better. Idc how we balance that. Take out the picks or skinner. ANA needs futures and we don't really, so I don't think it makes much sense to say no to those additions if they insisted and we really wanted him.

I get what you're saying though. We still have assets here to get a C if we still felt we needed it.

You’re delusional if you’re valuation on Buch is so low that Rakell is apparently GOD. Just cause we have picks and prospects doesn’t mean you recklessly start throwing them away. We’ve done that enough and it’s come back to haunt us. I stand by what I say these trades don’t help as much as you think and definitely should not even be considered if that’s the cost to acquire.

You must never watch Rakell. The ducks are my local team so I watch them often. Rakell has 2 seasons above 30 goals. He hasn't cared since the Ducks collapsed. Something is clearly going on there.

Getting Buch motivated to score 20 was an ordeal. So, yeah maybe there's some sort of hidden potential for Buch. Maybe one day he can become as good as Rakell, but he's had a long time.

Honestly, I was a bit offended at first, but it's clear you have an unreasonable attachment to Buch.

It’s not that. If the right deal comes along I would move on from anyone, I don’t really care because it’s about what’s best for the team. From what I’ve seen of Rakell I know he is great, but if I’m moving Buch it’d be in a bid to get a center not another winger, especially cause resigning Rakell will be expensive and with all the guys that have to be resigned in the next couple of years it doesn’t make sense to commit to him, when we can fill in with cheaper prospects.
