It's not bad, I rather keep the picks for wings, think we can get more taletlnt in the draft with both picks

Im not so sure about that, i dont think the value is that far off.
STL may need a #1 G next year and the addition of Marner is big. TOR also eats that ugly one year of 5mil for Bozak too

Why would makes this deal? I would rather have Allen then Andersson.

Parayko and Bozak is better than overpriced Marner.

Lets not be silly here.
Andersen > Allen (you dont think Andersen could put up Vezina numbers playing behind this Blues team?)

Neither Parayko nor Marner are in the "top 10" of their position, both are just outside of that "elite" group.
Yeah Marner is expensive, but TOR eats an ugly 5 mil Bozak contract in this deal.
You also cant have certainty that Tarasenkos shoulder is going to ever be 100% anytime soon.

I agree with everything here except for fact that I don't know how you say Marner isn't a top 10 RW...

Not sure who'd I'd put as 9 and 10, but I'm also not sure who bumps Marner out of that?

That's not enough for Marner alone. 5 years of Marner for 2 years of Parayko? Plus you add in 2 anchor contracts (I'm aware of Allen's stats but he benefitted from the teams system)... not enough.

I dont see Parayko being moved, especially if Pietrangelo is still a free agent. If the Blues move Allen- its to free up cap room wasted on a backup, Andersen isnt cheap, so that doesnt solve that problem at all. This solves a few problems for the Leafs- but seriously screws the Blues. They need Parayko much more than they need a $10mil Marner or a $5mil back up.

Both Wheeler and Svechnikov immediately get added to that mix. Voracek too.
Some RW may not put up as many points as Marner, but many arent as one dimensional as he is. Id never categorize Marner as a two way guy

For the Blues this is just step 1 in creating Cap for Pietrangelo - They have 2 Goalies that can be traded as well as more depth up front they can move on from where required. Bozak is the worst contract they have and that's gone.
I agree this wouldn't happen if the Blues don't see an ability to resign Pietrangelo.

Seems like a whole lot of work to clear up $2 mil in cap space. This is all assuming that Pietrangelo has no intention of testing the UFA market, which at this point (and I could be way off), he seems to. If the Blues thought that he'd stick around, the Faulk trade and subsequent signing likely wouldn't have been a thing.

Very Possible - Value is fairly even IMO but I do agree I am looking at this more from the leafs perspective!

Hot take - Marner is a worse contract than Bozak. Bozak is overpaid by about $1.5m - he's one of the better defensive 3C's in the league; just one year left on his deal so he makes for a good rental if there is retained money. Marner is overpaid by about $3m. He is a 1-dimensional scoring winger that is paid like a Hart candidate. He is Johnny Gaudreau at nearly double the cost. Easy pass on the trade. It doesn't open up any cap room and leaves us with Justin Faulk as our top pair RD and Tarasenko, Perron, Marner, Kyrou, Sundqvist/Thomas/Blais as possible RWs.

Given the Cap and with Bozak coming off the books one year later. I wonder if eating maybe 1.5M - 2M of Andersons Cap hit for the next 2 years would make it more attractive. I do feel an extra Pick would need to be added for that from the Blues perspective.

Marner would never happen but Anderson might. For Marner we'd be talking a high 2nd rounder for that. Anderson might be for a 5th rounder.

Fair. It's not a bad idea from the Leafs end.

I use baseballtradevalues.com for similar baseball stuff so I decided to check and see if there was an NHL version...Interestingly, according to NHL trade analyzer, the blues give up something like 10 value points, whereas the Leafs give up 14 (Stronger side of the trade). I'm assuming that it's a fantasy hockey related thing tears of joy

For what it's worth though, the same site has Warren Foegele as more valuable than Noah Dobson tears of joy

My Bad! Then 1 year at 2M without a Pick involved. Blues if they want can Easily flip a 3M Anderson for an even cheaper backup if they want to further free up Cap.

Whaaat are you on about? Why would the Blues need a #1 goalie? And there is nothing ugly about one year of Bozak's deal. He's a better player than every forward you have not named Tavares, Matthews, Marner or Nylander.

You're dreaming, dude.

Andersen has zero trade value to the Blues, man, We're not jumping through hoops to jump through more hoops. And you have no chance of getting Parayko, so pick another target.

Please explain.
Is the #1G the guy (Binnington) siting on the bench this post season? Hes got about 100 NHL games under his belt, far removed from a clear #1G. Not to mention theres already been a clear decline in his numbers once his game totals increased from 30 to 50 games.

As for Bozak, 3 consecutive years of decline in offensive production, will be 35 y/o mid season (further decline coming) no way youve got a brain and think hes worth 5mil
