I've got a hard time seeing Kekalainen do this. However it's a good «outside the box» thinking scenario, so I'll give you props for that

Replace Dermott with Holl and Columbus would probably make this trade. We’d need a RHD to replace Savard, not a lefty.

The problem with moving Nylander is that Kapanen sucks. You need Nylander in the top 6 or change from an offensive force and become a one line team.

taking 32 million over 4 years seems like one of the worst things Petro could do. He'd be 35 next time he wants to cash in. For this contract he's about to sign, he's gotta be looking at the sum of the deal, not the AAV. Would be better off signing just about any other deal. 1x10 and then 6x6 would be super light and yet it still makes him more than 4x8 and then 2x6 which would be hard to get when he's really declining, for example.

Kapanen didn’t suck when he was playing with Matthews a year ago and you know a team called Boston has a so called 1 line team and look at them

It would be tricky for any team no one wants to pay older players with high $ and high term

Tavares, Panarin, Bobrovsky, Karlsson, Doughty, Josi... why would it immediately stop right now? Hall and Petro will get their money. Might be a little lower than what they were initially looking at, but IMO it isn't gonna be $32m instead of $72m .

“The Toronto Maple Leafs could pursue Blues D Alex Pietrangelo in free agency with their extra cap space.”
1. In other news, water is wet.
2. What extra cap space?
3. They’re going to have to make the pitch of the century to get him out of St. Louis with that deal.

Not terrible actually. It sucks to lose but they did good for a lotto team everyone wrote off at the beginning of the season. We’re a young team and only going to get better from this. So yeah, it sucks to lose, but there’s also some things to get excited about with the teams future.

Yeah he did, he had a 13 game stretch where he had an assist. He's consistently inconsistent

I can't see Pietrangelo signing for under 9 for only 4 years...probably would get 11 x 7...

That Jackets deal is... I'll call it "okay". It's a lot to be giving up without getting back the #2C we need (I'm not really sold on Nylander ever really developing at C at the NHL level), but it works well as a small shakeup, and if Nylander is willing to learn under Torts he could be that beastly guy we need.
