If Chevy takes Sanderson

Created by: bunzy1034
Team: 2020-21 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 19, 2020
Published: Aug. 19, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Obviously I pray that Lundell or another top center falls to us. Ultimately, I could see it happen, but also don't think it will happen. So if Sanderson is the pick we will have Morrissey,Samberg,Heinola, and Sanderson all at LHD. Something would have to give. If Chevy won't trade the pick then one of these guys have to go to fill in some of the plenty of holes this team has.

I mean you can give Heinola and Samberg a shot this year and see what you get from them before making any big trade. Sanderson is going to play College next year so there’d be no rush to make room

Just gonna say...Sanderson is 2 years away from playing...By then we trade one of them...The other thing to think, Heinola does play a bit of RD so he could move to that side if needed

The way I see it there would just be too much of a log jam while their is a ton of other areas this team needs to be better in. If we could get our hands on a 2C like Cirelli or a solid young RHD we should jump on it. All three of Samberg,Heinola, and Sanderson will be top 4 dman with Josh committed for 8 years, that isn't really going to work.

I think Samberg and Sanderson are kinda similar with Sanderson being the better player most likely. So trade Samberg and i think you should try a 1 for 1 for another young RHD

I would absolutely love to see him trade up. If Drysdale some how makes it past the ducks pick I would be picking up the phone instantly if I was Chevy. I also think Buffalo could be a team that could move back as they would still be able to pick up the best goal scoring winger in the draft in Quinn.

there's so many better picks, if we're going with an LD, pick one with a bigger ceiling (Andrae, Cormier) than Sanderson, we already have one high floor DFD (who's a few years ahead in his development and has a very slightly lower ceiling) in Samberg

If Holtz/Perfetti were still at 8, BUF won't trade but if they aren't, I can see this happening...we need Lundell...

My thoughts exactly. My ideal draft would be to come away with Lundell and Topi Niemela in the top 40. How high are you on Jarvis? I know from the past he has the ability to play center and is kind of Brayden Point like in his game. Maybe we could try and move him to C.

He plays C in the WHL...If there is Sanderson at 10, we need to trade that pick plus our #41 to NJD for 18+20 OA and get Jarvis

I am pretty sure he played a lot at RW this year, but I know for a fact he can be a good center, because I always struggled against him haha.

Dont see them taking Sanderson. Hes committed to University for a few years already. I think they l9ok at a forward. I like local kid Jarvis here. Lots of potential and plays center.

It’s hard too say who they take. Lundell is likely who they get. But I think plan b is Sanderson. He’s a good defenceman and we need defence. Move Heinola to the right side works.

No chance Lundell gets past Minnesota.
You are thinking too short term. Winnipegs defense issues are now, not in 3-4 years when Heinola is more developed. That would be when Sanderson comes over to play from Uni. Usually you should just draft BPA but imo that is probably Quinn/Askarov/Jarvis here. Personally I take Jarvis bc of the ability to play centerand can probably step into the line up in 1-2 years.

I would not complain about that at all, and Jarvis is a weird one, i go back and forth between top 15 and like 30th lol, obv the best WHL production in recent years is there, and he's not a jack Quinn where you're like, this guy scored 50 goals, tf? He certainly stands out (and it's not like Portland was a horrible team this year, he didn't just stand out bc there was nobody else), but there are a lot of things that are questionable about his game, with the puck on his stick he has this sort of i will make a play attitude, and he has a good mix of power and skill offensively, but he like forces plays thug the NZ into the offensive zone, and doesn't use his linemates until they're open for a shot, and i worry about his game translating to the NHL more than most, i could see him becoming like a Brendan Gallagher (less net front presence, better hands and vision tho) with the physical presence gong into corners and just never losing a battle, but he also tries to be like a perimeter player as well and dance around guys, and prefers to send passes to guys in the slot and in front of the net, but I could also see him trying to rely on his hands too much, and never develop past being able to get around junior competition, and never really show much in the NHL, other than the occasional flash play here or there in like a preseason game, he's a very strange player lol, and I'm not the best at describing him I'm sure lol

(There's a reason why there's only 1 Gallagher in the league, not everybody can be that skilled energy type guy, and I'm worried that Jarvis won't be that, and his hands and vision won't be good enough)

He's also not a Brayden Point, he doesn't really do the defense, and will likely end up being a winger

I appreciate that take haha. Lets just pray Lundell falls. If worse comes to worse, I don't mind Holloways game at all and think he could have some upside at C.

Yeah, I like Holloway as a somewhat safe middle 6 C (still more upside than Sanderson, plus he'll probably be ready somewhat soon lol)

going to be a interesting draft especially with these kids not playing games since March and against the worlds best. Scouting going to be a key here and i trust Chevy and his scouting staff to come through.Little is going to be a concern until we know if he is out for the years or not. I still think we can get Lundell or Perfetti @ 8 if we can swing a trade with Buff but if we have to pick @ 10 i don't know who we pick maybe we move back and get a prospect to go with the pick

When was the last time the top rated D went outside of the top 5?
