Description
The Tampa deal is based on counter offer @JTBF81.
I assume Toronto could use a cheap physical defenseman on the right so that's that trade.
Trying a new islanders trade not sure how much it helps them not sure I love it but I'll put it out there and get some feedback on the idea. Thanks!

D looks good.
G looks like a tire fire waiting to happen.
Bottom 9F group looks sad.

With the flat cap + pageau extension, acquiring parise would mean the isles would have to trade one of beau/pelech next offseason. If the cap was 85 mill then this makes sense.

Parise to the Isles was Plan B if Pageau didn't happen. This is now dead.

If Arthur Staple is correct and Ladd goes to LTIR next season then they do not need to move him.

In this scenario, I would keep Pateryn as insurance in case Menell or Addison aren’t ready.
I like the Tampa trade...if it works cap-wise for them. I wiukd try to figure out how to get Cernak Too, but that probably not realistic.
@JayTea I think you have a theory about Parise that makes sense.

He makes $8m in actual salary next year, $6m the year after that, $2m the year after that and then $1m the final 2 years of his deal. Seems obvious how long he intended to play for, with the original intent being to simply retire. Since that would screw the team now, he'll end up on LTIR because of his back. Or he'll channel his inner Jagr and be a productive player until he's 40 and then who cares.

It's also entirely worth mentioning he'll be a $1m salary $7.5m cap hit in 23/24 and 24/25, so any team looking to meet the floor without spending a bunch of cash would love to have his contract. I really don't think his deal is as awful as the experts on this site think. It's not ideal, but it's fine.
