Absolutely no shot he gets more than a first, he can be had with an offer sheet for less

I rather see him get traded for a top LD like Brodin

I'd rather see him get offer sheeted and Chicago loses him for a 2nd. Brodin? You've gotta be joking

That's your opinion. Wild fans and Hawks fan's already agreed Strome for Brodin a good deal for both sides

"Good deal for both sides" does not mean value is equal. Chicago is in a great spot to be taken advantage of by a team that knows their cap situation is brutal. If I'm Detroit/Buffalo I'm throwing an offer

Hang on...does Heiskanen actually play on the right side? I haven't seen any Stars games in a while.

It really isn't that brutal if you actually knew our situation. We have some cheap buyouts and cheap young players that will keep us below the cap.

Yeah he does. In fact he played on the right side a lot while he was playing in Finland.

That is quite a luxury since he is as good on the right side as he his on the left.

While I agree with you on Strome’s value, if somebody hits him with an offer sheet in the second round pick range it would be an easy match for the Hawks. They have movable pieces. He would be one of them even at 4.5ish million per

Hawks add in that trade. And if I’m Minny, I’m looking to find a sign and trade to get full value out of Brodin. In which case, Chicago would add quite a bit

Every Chicago ACGM I see 'freeing up cap' relies on other teams taking on half of their defensive unit for picks so not entirely sure that I agree it's that fluid

Kubalik is the more attractive offer sheet target imo. You’re talking about Strome in the second round pick range tho. And what I’m saying is regardless of other things going on they can match that offer sheet and still shop him for full value which imo is more than that second round pick they’d get. If you hit him for 5.5+ million in the first and third range THEN you might be putting them in an awkward spot where they might consider taking the picks

What I'm saying is if they both get offersheeted Kubalik is the priority and they realistically just take the 2nd for Strome. If they match both they'll get bent elsewhere

Maatta and De Haan are movable pieces. Saad is a movable piece. They have 8.5 million coming off in Crawford and Lehner retention. The only thing you’re going to accomplish by hitting their guys with offer sheets is thinning out the roster elsewhere, probably forcing them to go into a re tool that might not be a bad idea to begin with

Cap situation really isn't that brutal. Not a problem for us to resign Strome and Kubalik. An offer sheet has never happened before, so I'm not sure why you think it's going to happen now, but if it did we match anything for Strome in the 2nd round pick category and anything on Kubalik in the 1st and 3rd catagory. If someone wants to give Strome 6 mil on a long term deal then go ahead. The comp for that is still more than just a 1st like listed above

That’s very poor asset management. He’s worth more than a second round pick at the offer sheet cap hit. Why on earth wouldn’t they match and move him for better value? They’ll be working the phones anyways making room for Kubalik. Is the Blackhawks front office bad at multi tasking and this is the first I’ve heard of it??

Again, an OS has never happened before, why would it happen to one team twice in one off season lol

Because offer sheets happen all the time? LMAO The last offer sheet to get accepted is 13 years ago, the last one before that 1997! There have been 9 offer sheets in the last 20 years and only 1 accepted. This argument doesn't have a lot of validity

What team you like has nothing to do with it. I’m a Dallas fan and I’m perfectly capable of understanding Chicago’s cap situation. Some people just see a team up against the cap and assume they’re in a tight spot. Yes, Chicago, Tampa, etc are going to be watered down some next year. But they’ll cut depth before they lose core players or lose players for less than they’re worth. 100%

The threat of an offer sheet does, and players get moved before the sheets happen for around the value the offer sheet would be, which is why I see Strome as worth less than a first. Not sure why any of that is so complicated.
