Description
Jets make a deal with TB. Not sure how this one works out as Gourde isn't exactly playing up to his contract, but I think it's a risk worth taking if it lands the jets Cirelli
Leddy deal is a nice add IMO to bide time for Heinola and Samberg
Lowry had to go
I know Im over the cap, but i just didn't want to go back and skim money from contracts I already signed

I don't know anything about Sami Niku but I would say isles would rather a forward because of their D depth. Again, I don't know anything about him

I would think the Isles try to use Leddy to rid themselves of another contract. If Niku can get flipped and shed a Komarov or something, fine. As a pure cap shedding move this would work for the Isles but I think it's only about halfway of what they're ideally trying to accomplish

Niku has upside of being a 3rd pair D-Man, Isles would be better off getting a 3rd for Leddy and not taking on a contract.

Gourde will never waive for Winnipeg though so this falls apart immediately.

The Jets and Islanders seem ripe for a blockbuster trade imo.

Agreed. Leddy is one of those contracts they want to rid themselves of so I doubt packaging another 3 plus mill is an option. WHo out there can take on 8+ mill and not send anything else the islanders way? THis deal saves the islanders 4.5 for this season and 5.5 for next. They desperately need to make space for their RFA's

Ideally, but if they are lucky enough to move Leddy, Boychuk and Hickey they'll still need NHL dmen. Niku has been buried on the jets D and can play both sides. a nice option to have

Who knows man? Are you and Yanni on speaking terms? haha, Im joking, but maybe a good French Canadian kid falls in love with the rich franco history in the peg? Plus he gets to play on a pretty sweet team with the chance of moving up in the lineup

TB says no. Cirelli is worth more than a #1 pick. Gourde had been bounced around all year causing a down year. This playoffs he is one of our best centers and his line with Goodrow and Coleman is playing like our #2 line, not far behind the Point Kucherov and Palet line. Gourde for Perreault only saves 1 million. We need to shed about 15 million this year to sign our players. Going to be a challenge but this is not the trade.

Matty P's a UFA after next year so it saves the bolts more in the long term. I think regardless how Gourde has been playing, they gotta move him. you could argue that him playing well is the best case scenario for the return they could get

No I don't know Yanni, just deal in reality and it's one that has Winnipeg on the top of most no trade lists, anything is possible though I guess.

As an isles fan, I'd do this. It's unfortunate as most years Leddy might fetch a first-rounder or decent forward, but isles really need to shed some cap and the flat cap makes that crazy difficult. I think it's fiar for both teams given the circumstances.

I agree it is an audition for him and Tyler Johnson. My guess is that 2 of Killorn, Palat, Johnson and Gourde be moved. Either Cirelli or Sergachev is dealt. Finally Paquette or Coburn gets traded. With all that we will barely be under the cap. Cannot afford the 4.1 million dollar contract even for a year. The return will be picks, prospects and ELC players. We have many NTC if no one waives then Kucherov will be on the trading block.

Also I think the only realistic target of Tampa's rfa's is Cernak and he'd be a nice addition to the Jets top 4, a big mean RHD is what Morrissey needs.

Also doubt any of Tampa's likely candidates they ask to waive would fit in Winnipeg other then Killorn, even if they waived I don't think Johnson or Gourde would click with the Jets crappy style of hockey.
