No thanks. Johnsson is a dime a dozen player and we have no need for Dermott with Girard, Graves, Cole, Zadorov, and Byram already on LD. The pick is also 2 years away and will probably take at least another 2 years on top of that to develop - it would have to be a 2020 pick for that players ELC to be helpful for the Avs cap crunch

Johnsson can and will be better than most of the league thinks however I agree a lot of leafs nations have massively overvalued him. Would Avs consider if leafs retain a little and Dermott is replaced with Liljigren?

COL declines, Timmins is too valueable to COL D core moving forward
COL has no need for Dermott or Johansson.

D core for them moving forward is:
Graves (LHD) - Makar (RHD)
Girard (LHD) - Timmins (RHD)
Byram (LHD)

Can you see how moving Timmins creates a huge hole on the right side?

Ya, that's true. However, they still have Erik Johnson for the next three years so he's missing on the right side and Liljigren could be in the trade instead of Dermott which could be a potential replacement for Timmins.

Graves-Makar
Girard-Johnson
Byram-Liljigren
It's still in the top five D-cores of the league and you add assets on top of it. I understand why the Avs would be hesitant to move him, but I just think Dubas melts at the thought of a play like Timmins, especially since he's from the Soo.

Drop Lindgren and the 3rd from the Kings trade and you have a deal.

Honestly id rather you just drop Johnsson from the deal - COL could just sign Namestnikov instead. With Liljegren + 2nd for Timmins thats definitely an interesting proposal. Im not too familiar with Liljegren though tbh so Im not sure what his role would be. Timmins is a pretty ideal player for COL though since we are projected to already have 3 puck moving offensive guys in Makar, Girard, and Byram. Timmins is a more steady, bigger 2 way guy who can play on the PK.

Here we go again...
Timmins > Liljigren - not interested in trading down

I know Johnson wasnt included, because COL fans dont consider Johnson a CORE defencemen in their FUTURE plans moving forward

Enough with this hometown hero crap, kinda sounding like the MTL fans telling us that 8 years later, Drouin and MacKinnon would still have "chemistry"

I think the Avs pass on Liljegren and a second. The value isn't awful on paper, but the second just isn't enough of an incentive for Colorado to make the move. Liljegren might turn out to be good. Timmins is all but guaranteed to be good.

Something bigger like Timmins, Donskoi, pick/prospect for Nylander and Liljegren could be something the teams would think about (note I'm just spitballing here) but in the end I don't see another blockbuster between the Avs and Leafs.

I think we'd have to add something pretty substantial to make that deal, but Nylander could be a good option for COL if hes available

For sure. I don't know what it would be though, so I just went with the generic "pick/prospect."
