Rossi

Created by: Devil
Team: 2019-20 New Jersey Devils
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 20, 2020
Published: Aug. 20, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
There has been a lot of talk about the Devils picking Rossi, if he falls to 7. Even though he is a center, he could move to left wing. Do you guys think the Devils should take Rossi if he is avaliable?

I personally think they shouldn't take Rossi since we already have many LW (Gusev, Bratt, Foote, Wood) and our biggest weakness is RW. The Devils only have Palmieri at RW and could use a scorer,Holtz or Raymond, instead of Rossi.

Always take BPA. Imo Rossi is the 5/6th best player in the draft

1. Laf
2. Byfield
3. Stutzle
4. Raymond
5/6. Rossi/Drysdale

Yeah I think Rossi at 7 would be amazing value - the guy looks like he's going to be a monster. I wouldn't worry about the positional depth, just take the BPA and let the rest work out. TBH Hughes or Rossi would be good on the wing. Much easier to move from pivot to wing than the other way around, obviously. If Rossi is gone, Holtz seems like the best fit in terms of team need, but if Rossi is there, I'd take him.

I would like the Devils to pick Rossi if he falls, but you are right it would leave us very weak at RW. Gusev/ Bratt/ Palmieri can play on the right, but depending on how the season goes I could see the Devils trading both (Gusev/ Palmieri) if they don't want to resign here.

As a Detroit fan I think the 2 most likely choices for Detroit Raymond or Rossi and I think Ottawa takes who is left out of the 2 of them.

Ottawa very likely stays as far away from Rossi as possible. Many scouting agencies and analysts don't like Rossi and see him as worthy of 7/8/9, not 4 or 5. The Sens have been linked to Raymond almost exclusively as Detroit has been linked to Perfetti, but it basically seems to be one of the two for Ottawa. They'll likely pick anybody else before taking Rossi. Perfetti and Raymond very likely go 4 and 5, then Drysdale 6 cause Anaheim needs D, and so 7 is totally a worthy spot for Rossi.

The Devils will be bad next year anyways. Get your right wing at next year's draft.

Also, like Gunler and Perreault are kinda in range of your midround firsts.

I think since Devellano and Osgood are part of the group that owns the Spirit it's an easy connection to make. A lot of people are saying he isn't an NHL center and if he is going to be a winger I think Raymond is a better choice for a winger. Personally I think they should take Raymond but I will be very happy with Rossi. I've been watching more video on Perfetti recently and a couple of interviews he did and I've been more impressed with the interviews than anything else if they do it might be a little bit of a letdown but he is still a very good player and just have to trust Yzerman knows what he is doing.

I think Holtz would be a wonderful fit, but tend to agree with the BPA folks

I think Palmieri is way more likely to resign than Gusev. At the deadline, we could get a big package for Gusev

Agreed, but I think it will depend on how next season goes; if the Devils are in the bottom 5-7 teams in the league I could see him not wanting to resign or want more money then sensible.
