Nurse and Hall

Created by: ON3M4N
Team: 2020-21 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 10, 2020
Published: Aug. 20, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
DeBrusk/Nurse has popped up a few times and my hesitation has always been that Boston lacks secondary scoring. If Boston lets Krug walk and signs Hall then I'd be fine trading DeBrusk for someone like Nurse. He can log big minutes, put up numbers at 5v5, block shots and hit. He and McAvoy as a #1 pairing (once Chara retires) would be insane and could be the top pairing for another 7+ years.

Cap would be very tight, but you could also move Ritchie and either bring back Nordy for cheap or let Frederic (ELC) fill the void.

@Bcarlo25 - again tight with the cap, but doable. What are your thoughts?

Not enough for Nurse, but it's not like delusional-short in terms of value. I'd want at least a 3rd going back to Edmonton too.

And I have a strong indication that the Bruins are going to be more apt in keeping Krug and Debrusk than blowing their wad on Hall and two years of Nurse. Makes the cap a bit tight down the road, does it not?

Why would Boston do that tho? Did you watch Nurse the Play-ins?

I don't know if Krug will be around after this year. If there was a deal to be had then I feel like it would have happened by now. DeBrusk I'm sure they want to keep around. They'd only move him if they were able to bring in someone like Hall to fill the secondary scoring he provides.

Hall's style of play suggests you won't get all six years out of him however.

I see a lot of parallels between Krug's situation and Stamkos' a few years ago. Needs the market to give him a realistic number back to Boston before staying put. I don't think any team he'd want to sign with can actually afford him at the moment.

25yr old big minute LHD to play with McAvoy when Chara calls it a career, while adding a former MVP and guy whose per game numbers put him at a career 28G/45A/73Pt player. As for the play-ins, I watched as much as I could but didn't watch every game.

    Pts - T5th
    SOG - 6th
    ixG - 9th
    iCF - 4th
    iSCF - T6th
    Hits - 4th
    Blks - T2nd

Let him play with Carlo whose one of the better shutdown young RHD in the game and when Chara calls it a career he slides up with McAvoy.

He's actually been pretty durable recently outside of last season. This year he had only missed 2 games and the 3 seasons before his knee injury he managed 76, 72 and 82 GP. You may not get 6 years, maybe you only get 4 years, but I don't see Hall signing a 4yr deal.

I’d love it. If you can get hall on a 4 year deal.

I like the idea but my main concern would be with nurse being a ufa and potentially only getting 2yrs of service out of him before he walks, where as debrusk can still be kept under team control for a little bit.

In terms of the cap numbers, i would say what happens the next year? Where is the money for Carlo coming? And that’s assuming that the contracts you have here work.

I also am not a fan of Hall, and I’m not much of a fan of Nurse, so I would much prefer standing pat. That’s just my personal preference.

A lot of money coming off the books the next few years and should be a guy they could re-sign. I get what your saying about JDB though

with a flat cap theyd be sitting at just shy of $29 million in space.

    Krejci
    Kase
    Ritchie
    Kuraly
    Carlo
    Chara
    Rask
    Halak

Chara at $1 million (if he doesnt retire)
Let Halak walk and go to Vladar (should be under $1 million)

That leaves $27 million for the remaining guy (roughly $4.5 mil per, but some would be more and some less). Its doable

I get it though its a preference thing. I was just playing with idea as something different and trying to maximize the laat fee years of the old core.

I like what the Bruins have right now starting D and prospects defenseman.

Even without Krug if he skips. Think Z reups for one more year.

I think it'll depend on how this year ends. If Boston wins another cup, maybe Chara hangs them up.

As for the defense, its in decent shape, but Nurse would be a massive add now and for the future. As much as I like our prospects, none of them have the upside of Nurse.
