Trotz is definitely a great coach and he has a good head for the game, but his personnel decisions hold his teams back at times. That’s one of his only flaws IMO

Eller and Backstrom were missing from game 1.... Backy then missed games 2 3 4. Samsonov who was the better goalie didnt even go into the bubble. Carlson was fighting an injury that caused him to miss 3 RR games. those factors plus being off for 4 months mixed with some terrible coaching. look at the entire league.... its not just the capitals. Capitals are still a really good team top 3 in the Metro. need a coach that holds players accountable.... look at Kuzy numbers after Trotz left.... guy was like ovechkin with adam oates.. to say "wayyy further away" seems ..... harsh considering the circumstances

they lost to Carolina ,who swept the islander the round after, in overtime in game 7... lmfao. this year they played 4 months after the regular season ended. okay is Carolina a long way away from being fixed? they won 1 more game than Washington did in t he last 2 years? they are fine and people like to read way too much into these type of situations when in reality they just lost 2 two really good teams last year in game 7 overtime this year in a pandemic lol. lets have a look .... Philly was the hottest team in the nhl when the season ended.... they are currently going to a game 6 vs the worst team seeding wise in the entire playoffs..... Penguins with their best roster in years lost to them in 4 games. CBJ swept tampa last year and lost in 5 games this year, are they a long ways away from being good? is tampa that much better than they were last season or is this just a rare situation that same teams are more motivated to win than others..... look at Rasks comments before he left

excuse? bold move lol . name one other time that the players missed 4 months then start to play in the playoffs..? okay then explain how thats an excuse. that would be the equivalent of you starting the playoffs after the offseason.... no preseason or regular season. Every team had to do it but that doesn't mean that its normal. things like this are abnormal and to expect the best results would be asinine. im not saying that losing should be tolerated but neither should thoughtless over reacting to game 7 loses ( capitals were gain missing Oshie and kempny) and pandemic hockey. lets pump the brakes and use common sense
