Description
The Caps have an aging core and one that simply isn’t producing enough. Their one bright spot for the future is Samsonov. Do the Capitals go all in to get the cup before the window is shut or do they start planning for the future? I think they go all in.

I don’t think the Ducks want all picks for Rakell unless they are higher

Hawks easily would rather keep Kampf, highly underrated 4th line center....great defensive player

This isn’t that bad.
I feel like MIN shouldn’t have to add picks while giving up Brodin

Or they wouldn't trade him for just a mid-round 1st to begin with. A top 6 center or they just extend him. They're not trading him unless they get back what they need.

WOAH! Hold on there. This is NOT the way the Capitals should go. Trading away all these draft picks will damage us in the longrun. Right now the Capitals need to use these draft picks to re-stock their prospect pool. The Cap's prospect pool is not looking good right now. The Caps should focus on using these draft pick to draft high quality prospects.

Not to say that changes don't need to be made or shouldn't be made. But they'd be better off trading roster players for roster players .

Draft picks are the future, don't get rid of them like candy

I made trades that would benefit the capitals either way. Rakell can be easily moved for picks/prospects because of his contract. As for Brodin, the Capitals dont give up too much for a player that they need.

Yeah hate to break it to you, but you don’t get a Top 6C for Brodin with one year of term left lol. A mid 1st plus a 3rd or B prospect is the going rate on a high end rental

Chicago Rejects Kampf is a good 4th line center on a good deal and we're not retaining on his contract.

Probably should clarify I wasn't implying 1 for 1. If they move him, it'd be part of a package. Only thing you're getting back for just him is another expiring contract center.

Anaheim isn't trading Rakell unless the Ducks get immediate help in the form of a high 2020 pick or roster RW or RD.

But are these trades really worth not having a pick until the 4th round in 2020. And not having 2nd and 3rd's in 2021 and 2022? The answer is NO. Keep those picks and draft quality players to develop into the next Cup winning Capitals
