You're making this way too complicated. Just trade out Johnsson and we have cap space... Trade out Kerfoot if you want space to sign a RHD.

Nylander has 59 points and Wilson has 44. Why is Toronto adding to that trade? If anything Washington should be adding a couple 1sts.

Points dont mean everything, if I'm building a team and I have the choice between Nylander and Wilson I'm taking Wilson

Okay you take Wilson... I'll take Nylander.

I wouldn't even do 1 for 1 why are we adding?

A 15 point difference is worth "a couple of 1sts"?

Wilson for Nylander, Dermott, 3rd

Personally, as Washington I take this deal. However, the Capitals do not. Wilson challenges Ovechkin as the fan favorite in DC. It would be a PR disaster to trade him.

I'm so tired of the constant Wilson for Nylander proposals. It's not happening, let it die.

They want Dermott and a 3rd round pick too.

I think the difference between Nylander and Wilson is more than a 1st though. Nylander still has a couple years more of improving (age 24). Wilson is almost done his development (age 26).

Nylander is obviously more offensive, but Wilson does a ton more on the ice than Nylander does (physically and defensively). Nylander also comes with a $2M higher cap hit.
The Leafs can keep Dermott. Flip the 3rd.

Wilson, 3rd for Nylander.

(But as I originally said, trading Wilson would be a PR nightmare for the Caps and I do not believe that they would do the original Nylander, Dermott, 3rd deal anyway)
