We aren’t that far away from the Hall/Larson trade.
When the league was overvaluing top 4D because they were at a premium. I’m interested to see how much we’ve come down from that. Every team in the league knows Dubas needs a top 4 RD that fits or his ass could be on the line next offseason. His hands could be tied...
Fair value for you is winning big. You would never accept fair because it would mean the player coming in is only as good as the one leaving and since you are a ridiculous homer, no one is as good as the cane players. For instance, Aho is likely the same as Matthews in your eyes.

Not even close, he needs some help sure but it's not nearly as big a deal as other needs. Like depth that shows up.

Dubas isn't stupid. He recognizes talent. That's why he he no problem paying those 4. The oldest is Nylander at 24. Matthews is 22. They are still young. They're going to get better not worse.
Pesce is a top 15 D man in the NHL. For someone of that quality, Nylander or one of the big 4 will have to go. You're not getting it for spare parts.
LOLOLOL Pesche isn't even top 5 on his team let alone 15 in the entire NHL. Then you can keep Pesche. If Leafs are trading a big 4 Pietrangelo better be getting signed. Otherwise keep him.

LMAO. Okay, you know nothing about Pesce. Pesce may actually be the 8th best D man in the NHL among RHD and 13th best overall

Agree to disagree. I’m tired of watching a D corpse in shambles. Holl is a decent 5/6 D thrown in over his head. Barrie Deal was a bust For us. Dermott hasn’t matured. Rielly needs a partner so he can explode. Watched the Jones/Werenski duo and keep thinking we need to be close to that.
Leafs would be stupid to trade Nylander. Or any of the big 4 tbh.
Isn't Nylander 1 of the big 4? *edit: sorry yea I got it, I had a brain fart*
When it comes to current roster players, the only forward TML have that are of any worth, are Tavares, Mathews, Marner, Nylander, and then Kerfoot and Kapanen.
I don't see much value anywhere else. All other players, I can see GMs prefering to give roster spots to their rookies. I think that's a huge problem for Dubas. To get a piece of value, he will either have to trade 1 of the top 4 or mortgage the future even more than he already has. Trade away guys like Sandin, Robertson, Abramov or SDA.

I like Pesce and would love to have him on the Habs but I cannot agree with him being top 15 in the league. He is 27th OVA for RHD in points and has a +- equal to Cici or 30th Overall. As far as overall Dmen he ranks 98th in points and 63 in +-. Toronto has 3 guys above him in +- (Muzzin, Holl and Dermott) and 4 guys ahead of Pesce in points (Berry, Muzzin, Reilly and Holl). None of those stats support your claim that he is a top 15 D man in the league. Even Gardiner has better stats the Pesce.

I'm not saying I agree with Pesce being a top 15 D man but you guys have to acknowledge he is a really solid RD and one that Toronto could absolutely use, not that Carolina wants to move him. You can't use those stats to measure his effectiveness. The fact that Gardiner and Dermott have better stats in those areas should have told you that. Pesce is a defensive defenceman that does not play Powerplay but is horse on the PK. He also gets the tough offensive matchups every night. So using points and plus minus seems pretty bias. In terms of his ranking league wide, saying he is top 20 or 25 wouldn't be too crazy. He finished 18th in Norris voting last year and I would not be surprised to see similar results this year. Leafs would be LUCKY to get him for Nylander, but I think it would take a bit more. And no I am not a leafs fan or Carolina fan, just an unbiased opinion here.

We're on Cap friendly, might wanna take a look at the Leafs cap space before entertaining the idea of petro being signed

Using plus minus and points is laughable. Pesce's xGA is the best in the league, his CA is 2nd to Nik Hjalmerssen, his xGF is top 10, his CF is top 10, when you take out Joel Edmundson who is a black hole, his stats get BETTER. Anyone with any sense of what stats to use to justify a DFD know he's a top 10 RD and a top 15 overall D man.

He's not top 20-25 that would mean he's a top D for several teams. Is he better than Chabot, Rielly, Muzzin, Hughes, Makar, Hiskanen, Slavin, Pietrangelo, Parayko? He might be a top 50 defenceman.
Plus this guy's coming off a major injury.
If the Leafs wanted to trade Nylander for him they could have done it by now. Waddell already offered him for Nylander but didn't want to throw in a 1st.

He gets secondary matchups, Slavin and Hamilton get harder matchups. He's immensely overrated on this site. A good player for sure but not elite like some Cane fans like to think.

His xG% was negative this year and the worst on his entire team. That means either he's not half as good defensively as you like to think or he's utterly devoid of offensive ability.

Only people that use only stats that benefit Pesce can see he's amazing, anyone who uses stats that show he's just good but not great are idiots. According to your hopeless homer mind.
