I cant see Marner signing for anywhere near 7 million

Maybe you bring it down to 9.5 but no lower than that

Marner probably got 1-1.5 m too much. Besides that, I’m fine with the signings.

I liked the Barrie trade at first... till he played. He makes gardiner look like Hedman. It’s literally like putting out a 4th forward. At least gardiner tried to play defence.

I do like kerfoot though. He’s certainly no Kadri but he’s a solid player.

Kerfoot is very underrated. He had 43 points in 79 games in 2017-18. I remember being shocked that Colorado traded him at the time of the trade. It's not a coincidence that his offensive production has fallen since becoming a 3rd-line center in Toronto. When he leaves in a few years, whichever team that gets him will be lucky.

Yeah, certainly disappointed we didn't get to see Marleau and Zaitsev in those spots this season!!!

Also, with the way injuries happened during the year, this roster would be playing games shorthanded.

7.4 for a 2-year bridge would have been plenty fair. I can't think of anyone getting more on a 2-year bridge.

we had guys on ltir all year (plus horton and clarkson). and ran with small roster all year long.

zaitsev and marleau would not have been any worse than what we put out there.

We had 22/23 man roster all year, so when players had minor injuries someone could step in. With a 20 man roster, and completely capped out, bringing in another player to replace someone with the flu becomes a cap problem.

So today you would rather still have Zaitsev on the roster, rather than $4.5M in capspace?

Because nothing weird happened to hurt their chances at making the playoffs?

Nonis would have traded the first, no top 10 protection, missed playoffs and "won" lottery and lost Lafreniere.

we started the year with hyman and dermott on LTIR. opened up space for cheaper/more guys. same thing all year with marner, tavares, rielly ceci, mikheyev etc. used their ltir space to get more than 20. so this roster was no different than what we actually did.

no. i wouldn't want zaitsev back. but if he meant having our 1st, kadri and marner on a better deal - then yes. i would take him back.
