Description
My daily “I’m a Canucks fan and need to know about your team” blurb.

Okay, so I’ll start by saying the Flames are by no means a bad team. But at the same time, they’re no cup contender either. So I’m gonna have some fun here. Excuse my values if they’re off.

It’s retool time baby!!

Monahan: Whats his actual value?? I assume being a 65point top C, it’s at least a 1st ++. So I’ve moved him to Buffalo because they NEED a number 2C behind Eichel. Yes they have Cozens on the way, but why not bolster the lineup if possible. Miller adds depth on the back end but is more of a cap dump on Buffalos end. Not that they’re close to the cap, but cap space is deadly in today’s NHL. They also have Ristolainen, Jokiharju, and Montour is needing to be resigned. So ones gotta go. Get a couple picks and a prospect to retool and you’re set. I think Buffalo might need to add a little more? The issue with moving Monahan though is now depth down the middle isn’t very good. But like I said, we’re retooling (not using the other R word lol) Maybe go out and sign a FA. Granlund (2C IMO) and Haula (3C IMO) add depth but not at the 1C level. Or swing for the fences and offersheet Barzal lol. I joke. Maybe try to acquire or OS one of the Stromes or possibly Cirelli? Idk.

Gaudreau: Once again, what’s his value? A good goal scorer although he had a down year. He’s at a decent cap hit with 2 years left. Often I see Boston trades, but with Marchand and Debrusk on the left side already, I doubt that would happen unless it’s for Debrusk. Because of the “retool” I’ve decided to move him to LA. Is that a likely destination? I don’t really think so, but I couldn’t think of a team with the cap space, and the assets it would require to make the trade off the top of my head. LA is in their own rebuild, but being loaded with picks and prospects, maybe they’d want to add a nice piece to play along side Kopitar for a couple years and stay somewhat competitive. I think Gaudreau would commend a 1st++, but no rebuilding team is going to move one of those out. LA has a bevy of C prospects including Turcotte, and Vilardi, and are likely to add Byfield or Stutzle (more of a winger from what I’ve heard but can play all 3 F positions) to the mix. That makes Madden expendable IMO. Madden, Kupari, and 2 2nds that don’t belong to LA anyway, *I think* this is a good haul for Gaudreau. I was thinking of even adding in Giordano, but then you may as well go full rebuild at that point. I think he’d fit well with Doughty though, and add some veteran leadership and depth to the Kings back end. For that I don’t even know what would be added, so I’m not even going there. It was just a thought that crossed my mind.

Aside from a quality C, you know have quite a few holes to fill up front, mainly in the bottom 6 though. On D, like on F, you need some depth guys. Shouldn’t cost a fortune. In G you have Rittich, but maybe go after a Holtby? A little homecoming in a sense as he’s from Saskatchewan. Idk. Point is, there’s plenty of money to go around to fill these holes.

Like I said at the start of this long winded ACGM, I’m a Canucks fan, and by no means a qualified GM. So excuse me if the values are off a little or even a lot lol. These are obviously just my personal opinions.

One last thing.....Prospects! I know of Pelletier because he was a 1st rounder, and I sort of follow Gawdin (our siblings grew up together) but not very closely. Are either of them expected to make the team any time soon? Anyone else I should keep an eye out for?

As always, thanks in advance.
Cheers!

While that is a fair price for Gaudreau IMO, I don't think he is a good add for the Kings, but they probably accept.

Bufallo accepts

Buffalo accepts and probably throws a damn parade, socially distanced of course.
