The Blues used a package like that to get Schenn but the term was longer for both the good (Schenn) and the bad (Lehtera), and he was plugged into the top line center role. I think it's a little steep for renting Palmieri.

Plus the team is already so thin on prospects... if Alexandrov and 2 1sts are traded, there are literally zero prospects with NHL upside once Kostin and Perunovich graduate, and very slim chances of drafting any more. I think we can send Bozak somewhere for essentially nothing and they can flip him at the deadline with money retained for a decent pick - he's still a useful player.

fair enough, I admit some of these are overpayments I was mainly just seeing if the cap could work with Pietrangelo + getting a decent rental like Palmieri

I have a feeling it'll be tough to add any upgrades if Petro is extended - gonna have to figure out a way to turn over the roster with cheap options (ELCs) because Schwartz, Thomas, Binner/goalie are all gonna need raises. Crazy how tough of a spot Army put himself in right after winning the cup lol. That is, if he actually has any hopes of extending Petro...

As a Devils fan (howd ya guess?) yes I would do this and hope Palms wins a cup.

Somehow, That DET is worse than the NJ trade for STL.

I said in the description they are both overpayments. This was more of a worse-case scenario kinda thing to see if the cap would work with Pietrangelo + a good forward rental

Ottawa will give you a much better deal on that offer going to DET. Hell, you can remove the 3rd rd pick and charge us a 4th. We'll jump on it!

As for the ALLEN, unless Nilsson announces he is retiring, we'll pass.

yup its definitely an overpayment to DET - this was more of a worst case scenario cap clearing team

If Pietrangelo stays then the solution has to be moving one of Faulk or Parayko right? I mean, it's insane to commit that much money to the right side even for the short term. It'll be tough to add upgrades but I don't see how we win another cup unless we score more, and I'm hesitant to put that all on Tarasenko coming back because, as we've seen, it's been touch and go there at best. Forward upgrades are necessary and I don't know if it's coming internally from guys like Sanford and Blais. Kyrou maybe.

Trade or they permanently move one of the righties to the left side, which would effectively make Dunn the odd man out (scary).

The team is always going to rely on the defense for success, but I agree, scoring will remain an issue. I think you can add some scoring by inserting Thomas into the 2C role full time. He already generates a ton of offense and his linemates would be upgraded. But yeah, without Blais/Sanford/Kyrou taking giant steps, it's hard to see how scoring will go up. Perron probably won't have these career years all the way through his contract. Tarasenko may never return to 100% considering most of his offense is derived from shooting skill. Schwartz may be a cap casualty. I really feel more and more like Petro is already gone after this year. And instead of having the money to spend, it's already been cashed out on Faulk and Scandella Confused

There is zero chance of:

1- Signing Dell. Eww.
2- The Devils trade.
3- The Wings trade.

But it's adooooorable that an Avs fan feels it's okay for us to go giving gifts away.
