Description
yeah, sad about the loss, wanted to put my tears into this post if pietrangelo walks. upgraded the front and traded perron might be smart to trade Bozak too instead of perron but I thought this would be moe interesting... i will probably get shredded in the comments but hey worth a shot.
If you're questioning the following offseason, dont worry Schwartz (6.5), Thomas (4), Binnington (5.5), and Kyrou (1) will combine for 17M leaving 3.6M in cap space to sign/bring up a depth C and W and a backup Goalie.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t think you can resign a player after you just bought him out. You have to wait a full season. You’ll have to lose Steen.

But the Ducks would think on that trade offer..

That's actually great value for the Rangers. Only reason I don't think they do it is the fact that they are loaded with options on both wings heading into next Season (Panarin, Kreider, LaFreniere, Kakko, Buchnevich, Kravtsov, Barron, Lemieux, Gauthier, DiGuisseppe, Khodorenko, Gettinger). It's already made it pretty much impossible to resign Jesper Fast. Think they focus more on their needs at 2C and LD.

I'm not sure whether it would be allowed in this case, but a similar situation where that has happened would be Micheal Stone just last year. Bought out during offseason, signed in September to the league minimum.

Huzzah, you are correct. Just not sure what constitutes a compliance buyout or an ordinary course buyout. Or the cap hit literature.

a steep price for perron but if a division rival wants to sign hall for 10x7 then we'll do what we can to accommodate that.

I actually really like that COL deal.
COL is loaded at C (MacKinnon, Kadri, Compher, Jost, Bellemare, Newhook, maybe Kamenev) and could afford losing Bowers.

Perron only comes with 2 years at really good value (4mil).

LOL you do, but STL isn't going to make that deal. One its a divisional trade which rarely happens. Two, Perron is our second best RW and we're trading him for another C where we have enough depth. Lastly, he outperforms his contract so he's not someone we are looking to shed. If the blues have money to throw 10 mill at hall, Id argue we re-sign petro

Compliance buyouts were only allowed for a few seasons right when the last CBA was ratified. I think the reason you don't see teams buying out players and then resigning them is because the whole point of buying someone out is to clear cap. Depending on how big the contract is, usually your cap savings are very limited by the time you buy them out and re-sign them so there's no point, especially when you have to spread that buyout hit over two seasons.
