Detroit shouldn't be trading away draft picks and why would they take those contracts?

I think expecting a team as bad as Detroit to give up a 2nd in this draft is too much. I’d say a 3rd for that package is probably fair but not sure they’d do it. I don’t know who will take Loui. I think we’re stuck with him next year and then dump him in 21-22

This Package wont get you a second, but they may do a slightly different package for Calvin Pickard.

I think Louie, Demko and a 2nd is more than fair to get Calvin off their hands. You may then not need to make the Stalock deal as well.

Detroit desperately needs a goalie of the future and draft picks to build up their farm system. Louie actually helps them in another sense, helping their cap hit reach the floor without actually having to spend the real dollars to get them there. Louie is only owed 5M in real dollars over the last 2 years of his deal.

Why are you trading a 2nd for a backup goalie? Just sign Brossoit he's a hometown guy anyways. Just take out the 2nd in the Detroit trade and keep Virt for that 3rd line RW spot. Also, Juolevi probably plays over Rathbone and I'd switch Myers and Rafferty in the lineup.

Have you looked at Detroit's cap situation? They are at $45.6M with 10 players signed they need $14.4M to get to the floor and resigning Mantha, Bertuzzi and Fabbri will most likely get them there. Then they still need to sign 10 more players, so the floor is not even close to being a problem. With several prospects the Wings need to start getting in and out of the line up and Eriksson taking up a roster spot gets in the way more than he helps. His 13 points last season make it unlikely that he is going to contribute mush offensively and I having a hard time trying to see how he helps Detroit at all. Make no mistake Eriksson is a cap dump and the only way he helps Detroit it what they get from Vancouver to take his contract.

Congratulations on reaching the next round!! I'm envious.

Zack MacEwen?

I thought Stecher and Virtanen played well enough to retain them. If you could do something like the Backes trade with Eriksson, you can probably fit everyone. But it will be difficult to tell until you know what's happening with Michael Ferland.

Detroit’s timeline is such that it makes us not “desperate” to do anything. Which in turn only adds leverage.
