You can have your answer just by looking at the points. Gaudreau has been apart from this year (with the grand total of 1 point difference) always better than Nylander throughout their whole careers. Gaudreau has carried his own line and been the best player of his team for the last 5 years until now... Nothing said here applies to Nylander. He gets to play with centers like Matthews and Tavares and before anyone says that he doesn't disappear in the playoffs like Gaudreau does, Nylander doesn't really even manage get his team into the playoffs. Except the first round in which, once again, he's not performing that well.

Only thing Nylander has in his favor is that he's a little under 3 years younger that Gaudreau is and his contract runs longer.

I'd absolutely take Gaudreau of the two.

Chucky was better but Johnny was still the offensive driver of the top line imo

As for the Calgary deal it’s pretty close. Replace the 4th with Steel and no retention and I’d accept. Absolutely an overpay for Nylander tho, Manson 1 for 1 is close to fair

Nylander can get Klingberg 1 for 1. Klingberg is miles better than Manson.
I’ve also heard from many ducks fans that they’d take Nylander and Johnsson for Manson and Rakell

This won’t happen but just to join in on the fun might as well move 6OA for PLD and Henrique for Risto and terminate Backes contract to make it work.

You realize that points are not the be all and end all right?

Theres way better ways to compare players

There's many ways, but at the end of the scoring is the one thing that matters the most. After all, that's how you win games.

Also I wouldn't really make that point if there weren't a clear difference in there, but we all know there is.

Scoring is 50% of the game

Keeping the puck out of your net is the other 50%

I thought thats why the Leafs arent a great team, they cant defend. But since scoring is all that matters, they shouldnt need to

Offensive players are there to score.

Defensive players are there to make scoring harder.

Usually the most valuable players of each team are the ones that are able to do both.

It's that simple, really.
