Ducks trade is almost pathetic.

ARI trade is interesting.

COL trade is not happening.

The signings are all over the place.

Ducks trade may be unrealistic, but the value is there I think. I like the Arizona trade, and if Colorado trade doesn’t happen then I could see another team jumping on that. Barrie deal is tough, I think he’d want a little more than that but you never know after his okay season this year. Love the revamp d for the caps, definitely needed it after this year’s excuse of a defense in the second half of the season. Gallant could lead this team to a cup hahahah

Ducks trade is a hard sell but you can't say the value isn't there. You have Orlov who's a #2 dman, Alexyev who's projected to be a #2 dman and is only 20, and an immediate impact forward.

Colorado trade can go almost anywhere, they just have the cap.

The only controversial signing to me is Barrie but he's looked pretty bad recently and with the cap locked for a few years I could see him going for it. If not Barrie though, there are other pieces.

I'm curious who actually plays defense on your team besides Jensen?

I can absolutely say that the ANA trade doesn't have value, and that is because ANA is in no need for players that they'd need to contend now. They're a rebuilding team and Zegras is the biggest and most important part of this rebuild. Orlov is a valuable asset to a team that is ready to contend now. Also the expansion draft brings an issue as well, since acquiring Orlov would mean that they'd be forced to move Manson because otherwise Seattle would take him for free. Hagelin brings pretty much nothing to their table that they don't have, they're stacked with bottom-6 wingers already. Alexeyev is the only interesting piece for them considering the status the team is currently in, but they absolutely wouldn't move Zegras for him.

As for the COL trade, it's not about the team, it's about the player. Panik is overpaid and his current contract runs way too long. Under the tight cap era no one is interested to take that contract in. Every single team in this league would have better use for that $3M of cap space over taking another bottom-6 forward to their team - unless they get compensated for it. Panik himself will get you absolutely nothing.

Barrie's likely to sign a one-year bridge. He's not signing a long-term contract with a salary cut after scoring 98 points in last two seasons combined, which is a respectable amount for a defenseman.
If he isn't getting a bigger, let's say $6,5-8M contract now due to covid effects, he'll likely take a one-year 5x1 bridge deal to prove that he's still an useful player.

As for the other signings - Krug absolutely won't take a 4 year deal. He'd be what, 34 when that deal expires at which point he's not going to get a big contract anymore. Taking that short of a deal is just a wasted opportunity and financially not beneficial for the guy. He'll get a 7,5x6 or 7x7 deal somewhere else. His market value is pretty high after yet another successful season.

The Gustafsson contract has probably the right amount of money, but the term is ridiculous. The guy is a 28-year old TOP4 UFA D-man heading to free agency after a poor campaign, just like Barrie. I don't see the point for him to sign for so low when he could easily make a better money after taking a one-year deal to prove himself.

The Namestnikov deal is also a bit cheap in terms of money, but the term is quite realistic.
