That OEL-Carlson pair would be a disaster in their own zone

Good thing you have Barrie and Jensen to throw in instead!

Why not keep Krug in as well! I mean he only started like 60% in the ozone.

The ANA trade has the same issue as it had in the previous one - they won't include Zegras. He's the key piece for their rebuild and absolutely invaluable for the organisation. They don't need the pieces offered here. Your target player and team is wrong, even if there is value in the package to a nice extent.

ARI trade is still interesting.

I don't think CBJ needs any more wingers. They already have a surplus of them. Retain half of his salary and dump him to SJ who needs wingers for a 5th.

Gustafsson deal is lacking due to it's term. Same goes for Fast as well. Make them one year deals.

Who would you target instead of Zegras for a cheap impact franchise guy?

Hard to say. These kind of players pretty much never get traded, because teams are not in favor of giving in with their top prospects. If Zegras becomes the franchise center of ANA as they've projected keeping him is just the wiser option.

Legit the best option via trade is probably a high end prospect that plays for a contending team already, because the team is likely more in favor to use that said player as a trade chip in order to strengthen their team further for their current run. Cody Glass or Alex Newhook are examples of such players. But it doesn't mean they'd get any cheaper...their team's might just be tad more in favor for moving the asset over a rebuilding team.

There are only a handful of guys like that traded every decade, and they cost a fortune. If we recognize someone as a franchise player on an attractive salary, their team almost definitely does too. :-)

Agreed on Glass and Newhook and Krebs etc. The issue though is they just don't need defensive depth the same way Anaheim does, which is why they were targeted. I can't think of a package for Newhook or Krebs that works because both Colorado and Vegas are loaded at D and don't need a true PP QB, or a high tier defensive prospect the same way a rebuilding team does.

You would bleed 1000 goals per game with that D
