Colorado is such a well built team, why would they ruin that by paying a washed up Holtby?

If I was Colorado I would steer clear of Holtby.

Grubauer and Francouz have both proven they can be a starter, why get a more expensive one

I didn't realize he's been regressing - maybe a bad idea then haha. I feel like Georgiev could be a good fit though, just don't know what COL would offer up.

Stop with these avs adding a goalie nonsense posts,
They have 2 goalies signed and one of the better goalie prospects in the nhl with annenun, they aren’t wasting cap space on older regressing goalies

Holtby is a great goaltender, he just isnt going to be that for Colorado. It doesn't make sense for the Avs. Their goaltending is looking solid and IMO i wouldnt expect many moves from them. They're going to be hit with cap problems in the very near future. They've got 6 RFA's to resign next year and the year after you've got an extension coming to Landeskog, Grubauer and Makar is going to eat up pretty much everything you have today.

This is not entirely true. Sakic hasn’t handed out any long term deals beyond Mikko and Girard, and things don’t get tight till MacKinnon signs his extension because of Sakic’s discipline in contracts. Best example of it is Compher and Donskoi expire same time as MacKinnon so if need be their money can go to MacKinnon. Plus the cap isn’t going to stay flat 4 years in row with expansion and a new tv deal. Throw in guys who will take spots in the line up on ELC’s in Byram, Newhook, Kaut, Bowers and cheaper young guys in Timmins and LOC and things look even better.

The entire point is that the Av's cap situation looks dramatically different in a year and even worst so a year later. Is it manageable, yes. But throwing a big contract at a goaltender like Holtby isnt worth the eat at the cap especially when you consider Colorado's current goalie situation. That money would be better spent on a budget deal for Hall, etc.

I agree with that 100%. I want nothing to do with Holtby. Sorry if that’s how it seemed.
