Everyone talking about Turris trade(or buyout), but I think Poile will make much more moves, especially in bottom six.
Jarnkrok is a good hockey player, and he is good in NSH, but it is time to get new blood.

I think I would rather keep Kieffer at that price. Seems very meh, you could prob sign a player of similar caliber as a UFA and keep Bellows around

I like Jarnkrok, and his contract is cheaper than anyone we’d sign at UFA. I also think that third line would be awesome. I’d go from a weak link to a strong spot of ours. I also wouldn’t be surprised at all if Lou made a trade like this w Bellows, him and Trotz rly don’t seem to like him

I also think he said he wanted to get younger (although that might’ve been a dif GM I’m confusing him w,) and bellows fits the bill

Think you might be able to get a bit more value for bellows but one of him, wahlstrom, Ishakov, or holmstrom getting traded makes too much sense and I feel like bellows has to easily be the odd man out of that group (also Ladd to LTIR would allow for Hall etc on a 1-2 year deal if that were to be an option)

Maybe you could get more out of Bellows but I j love the fit w Jarnkrok. As for Hall, I was thinking of adding him to the team on a 2 year, 7 mil deal while LTIRing Ladd, but I decided against it here j cuz I wanted it to be a bit more of a conservative post. But if Ladd goes LTIR I’d love to see it. In that case maybe no Jarnkrok reads and you j trade Bellows for like a 2nd or sm

We wanna get real out there with trade ideas no ones talking about on this site w the isles? Tarasenko trade makes a lot of sense depending on the value going back after an injury riddled season (also Gaudreau centered around bailey/varly+prospects too offset cap but there’s a lot going on here already)

I actually made a Tarasenko trade the other day (might’ve been yesterday.) only problem w it is is the title was let’s pretend the isles had no bad contracts so it was only a scenario that would happen if Ladd, Boychuk, Hickey, etc. weren’t a thing. If the isles could pull it off, maybe have Bailey or Ebs going the other way, I’d absolutely love it

Just took a look at it.. think it would be an overpay at this point in his career w injuries but even with the contracts I think it’s still possible assuming what happens in this AGM minus Jarnkrok then make a trade centered around Bailey/Bellows/Holmstrom/lottery protected 1 but my value might be messed up there

Maybe a Bailey, 1st, Holmstrom deal could work, I hope so. But I don’t think they’d be willing to do that. You have to overpay to get Tarasenko, and I’d be willing to do it if the cap works

Yeah I know I just wrote that poorly I just meant one of their forward prospects and threw wahlstrom in there with the rest

I wouldn’t call wahlstrom untouchable, but he’s pretty close to it. A guy with shooting talent and high end offensive skills who’s on an ELC for the next 3 years shouldn’t be considered unless it’s an overpay from another team.

100% agreed plus his value should be inflated as hell in a flat cap world on an ELC for 3 years

Exactly - I’m not opposed to trading bellows , like @AndrewLadd said it doesn’t seem like the isles are high on him anyways. I think koivula will be better than bellows, they should switch him back to lw.

Not sure if it's public knowledge or not but I know that management doubled down on the whole '5 year plan' from 2018 back in January which is why I also tend to think bellows gets traded to dump a longer term contract and let the rest of the younger guys develop and go for a shorter term Hall/Hoffman deal

Yeah I have no clue lol - but I highly doubt they go for hall or Hoffman. They will need to add to their offense with Dobson, wahlstrom, and koivula this season, by 21-22 (assuming bailey is traded)

Koivula-pageau-eberle

One prospect I’m excited about is iskhakov , he’s a smaller version of beauvillier with better hands. He’s boom or bust prospect, but he has so much skill and pretty good work ethic.

huge iskhakov fan loved the first 4 picks of the '18 draft and I think Lou will be going towards a trade for a middle/top six winger at some point but we shall see there do agree that Bailey is likely a cap casualty tho thinking about it is real sad too when you realize how much time the guy put into being an islander and what he went thru just to be forced out by cap issues once they get real good

Yeah but this is a business at the end of the day, I like bailey but I would sell high on him this offseason tbh

It’s going to be hard for lou to trade for a middle/top 6 winger in the next 2 years, most likely isles will have to rely on ELC players, but if lou can make a contract or 2 disappear , then I agree. I’m not the biggest of lou , but there’s no one I’d rather have for this offseason, if there’s anyone that can make a contract disappear, it’s him.

Good point, I wouldn’t b surprised if he pulls sm real shady and gets Ladd and maybe even Leo and/or Boychuk contracts disappear

agreed on both counts there I would advocate heavily for a Bailey centered tarasenko or maybe one with the Jets for a winger there but we shall see if theres anyone I trust to make some weird stuff happen unconventionally its Lou
