I know Zacha gets **** on because he isn't living up to the potential of a 6th overall pick. But quite frankly, he has been a very solid two-way middle 6 forward, and this year proved it with his increase in ice time, assists and points. He has very good hands, along with pretty good speed, and is a great penalty killer. Personally, I am not too hot on trading for the guy, because he is still a valuable asset for the team, but if he were to get traded right now, and I say he is worth either a very late first rounder or an early second rounder, as well as a C+ to B prospect.
Interesting. Yeah I knew he gets a bad wrap bc of his draft position but had a better season as far as his points production this year. And part of it seemed Hynes didn’t like him maybe? Then he sorta got a fresh start. Was thinking maybe he could use another one bc I hear how he is still a frustrating player in terms of consistency.
And I was thinking more along the lines of a hockey trade vs trading him for futures.. But I agree on his value, not in picks exactly, but in players. Bc a team would probably just keep their first or early second to draft “their” guy.
Just looking from outside tho, the Devils seem light on Dmen especially LHD, while the Red Wings need a center. That’s where I saw a hockey trade that could work well.. Cholowski was 20th overall pick in 2016 and fans are frustrated with him bc of where he is drafted. But the reality is he’s only 22 still, it normally takes Dmen longer to develop, and fact is he still possesses all the skills to become a second pair guy and run the second PP. And he’s on the cusp of NHL, made our team 2 years in a row before we decided he needed more AHL time. He’s likely ready to step in now but no doubt there will still be some growing pains. Wings probably add the C+/B prospect like you said. But yeah just saw a change of scenery trade that might work to fill team needs
Plus Cholo is still on his ELC , so there’d be cap savings if that matter to the Devils, I’m not too sure.
