I don't see GMJK including Marchenko... more likely a goalie prospect like VV or someone like Nash to clear the bottom-6 forward logjam.

lol "fringe elite prospect". Calgary would rather trade Gaudreau for Philis first alone then do this trade. Value is far off

I agree with you 100%. Moving a goalie would probably be more likely and more ideal. I just added marchenko so people didn’t torch me for overvaluing JG.

It’s an overpayment with the upcoming flat cap for a non-playoff performer who only has 2 years left on his deal.

yeah i would say

Josh Anderson+Savard (Calgary needs more RHD)+one of the 2 goalies or a good prospect would be a return.

Not even close. Anderson is a good piece to include in a much larger package, Nutivaara is of no interest (we already have 4 LD, 3 of them under 23), and is Marchenko even gonna want to come play in the NHL? He’s signed in Russia until 2022 and seems happy there. Try like Anderson+1st+Foudy+Tarasov. Stop saying he’s not a difference maker if you didn’t watch the series, it’s his linemates who disappeared which is a death sentence for a playmaker. Put him with Atkinson or Bjorkstrand and he’ll put up 100 points again easily and turn them into a 40 or 50 goal scorer consistently.

Let's put it this way, other then PLD, Jones and Werenski Columbus doesnt even have the pieces to get Johnny hockey unless they just threw enough 1st round picks at Calgary

aww yes. a "fringe elite prospect" guess i'll tell everyone Pelltier is elite and Robertson is elite. We also need ANOTHER winger who just game back from Surgery. We also need ANOTHER LH defenseman. aww this keeps getting better and better. Basically crap for Gaudreau. and I didn't do research. Gosh sometimes I hate cap friendly

A) that’s not enough for Calgary to move Gaudreau.
B) Columbus doesn’t need a wing. If anything we’d trade for Monahan, but then it would still cost more then we’d want to give for him to be a 2nd line center.

1. The 2nd line center will be filled from within. Texier will have his opportunity, and will likely fill that role. Foudy will also have an opportunity but will likely play wing. Also, wennberg had a solid playoffs.

2. The dire need on this team is high end skill. It was the difference in the Tampa series.

3. The trade value for Gaudreau will be directly affected from his sub-par regular season, his lack of playoff success, the upcoming flat cap, and his contract only has 2 years left on it.

4. Marchenko is clearly gaining value. There will be a bidding fest for A player like Anderson between teams such as Toronto, Buffalo, and Calgary.

5. The flames aren’t going to give up Johnny Hockey in exchange for draft picks. They want to shake up their core and bring in new faces.

Marchenkos value will be similar to Kravstov or podkolzin.

In the last roughly 15 years literally only 1 Russian has worn the red C in Calgary and thats Yelesin for 4 games this year due to injury. I can tell you with almost absolute certainty he will not leave Russia for Calgary. So no, we arent trading a superstar player for your lottery ticket

That offer is not good enough to be accepted for Gaudreau. Plus, Jarmo seems to really be high on Marchenko, he wouldn't include him.

I also do not like that contract for Gavrikov. I say it's more likely we see something similar to a 2 year, $2M AAV deal as a bridge to see how good he will end up being.

I think there seems to be a gap between how jarmo values marchenko and how the rest of the hockey world doesn’t really know his name yet. Also, agree with the Gavrikov assessment.

So Gaudreau's value is low for your stated reasons but there will be a bidding war for a guy that just had 4 pts this past season, has 8pts in 21 career playoff games, and can file for arbitration and go UFA after next season? I like Anderson and the style of game he plays but until he gets back on the ice and shows he can still play that game after surgery he's damaged goods.

Unless Treliving goes insane Jarmo doesn't have the assets to get Gaudreau in a fashion that makes the Jackets better.

Podkolzin has 30 lbs on marchenko (who has yet to fill out his frame), and marchenko our scored him 2x last season for SKA. They are both young but it still doesn’t sound like you know what you’re talking about.

lmao. Podkolzin has proven a lot more in different leagues. Marchensko is doing better cause he is a year younger? Have you ever thought about that. Lol I don't know what I am thinking about. Your the biased jackets fan who thinks Marchenko is worth Podkolzin and can be a main piece in a Gaudreau trade.

I think we're paying with the wrong sorts of assets there for Gaudreau. Players generally aren't Generically For Sale for some arbitrary value amount; the needs of the other team have to be taken into consideration, and that's not doing it all that well with Calgary.
