Ship them away. I dont know their "real" NHL values. I think Danault should still be worth more than a 2nd round.. However we have Poehling coming up.. And KK, Suzuki, Gallagher and maybe Tatar would get raise !

We cant give a raise to Danault.. And we can't keep Paul Byron at this price. So trading them to the west I think would be the best for Montreal.

I just picked Chicago because its a team from the west and Danault was drafted by them.

You should extend the hometown Danault. He's a good center. Poehling...meh

That's the point you know.. I think Poehling can do 50-60% of Danault's job for a lot less ! Plus Poehling is the future. Danault is certainly going to be an issue along the way if we secure him for too long and with big money. Even as a short term deal... Danault is not a player you give $4M+ and be happy to hold him on a 3rd line.

Wow Detroit would obviously take that but the Montreal GM who made the deal would probably be kicked out of Canada for life.

Anything below that price Detroit would refuse. You have to pay for a talented 6'5 guy like him and I think that's what Montreal really needs right now. We have so many picks and prospects (whether they are good or not is yet TBD) however I don't want Montreal to keep waiting when Price and Weber are getting older and past their prime.

That would be a dream come true for Montreal. Imagine turning Galchenyuk into Laine.

Im not giving them away for free. I should have said "Sell them" instead of ship them to not confuse people. I definitely don't think they are worthless. Danault should have a really good return in terms of picks or bottom 6 player. Byron too but his contract is big.

im on board with Byron, but I keep danault as MTL will need him. They will need a good top 9 center and he can do that.

For how much $$$ are you ready to pay for a 3rd pairing guy like him ?

I would say 5.5 is a good number for a player that can score 50 points while giving you a 200'
Like is it unrealistic that he should be in the top 7 votes for the selke every year for the next 5 years?

    no?

$5.5M !??!?? For a player which is suspected to be a 3rd pairing center - and remember he did got 50 points playing alongside Gallagher (30 goals) and Tatar (leading scorer) which are our best two wingers. His numbers ARE GOING DOWN as early as next season. I would see him as a Lars Eller type of player with more speed.

NOTE: We still have Poehling on $900k cap space which has the potential to be better than Danault.. I prefer to bet on Poehling and live with his inexperience for a couple of years than risking losing assets because of cap space and spending 5M on Danault.

Points are going down....he had 47 in 71 games. Im willing to bet that he would have gotten 3 points over a 10 game span....
You want to say bye to Danalt because you might have to pay a really good center over 5 million for 4 years....and then let Peohling be the 3rd line guy? Peohling is a fine prospect, but he played mostly in the AHL last season and wasnt even that dominate. 13 points in 36 games isnt terrible but why push him to be more then he is...ask Edmonton how that system works.

I just dont understand why we hab fans are willing to let him walk because he deserves 5 million then to cry 2 season later when we need that exact player to help insulate the younger players.
Either way, its my opinion, I just like having solid players around younger player to help them develop.
