Description
Just for Fun!

Assumes Leafs win the first overall pick and CLB wins the second overall. Leafs don't need another center in Nolan Patrick but CLB desperately does, as well CLB does not need another defender. Leafs acquire a physical left winger to introduce a more physical element to the top six and Kapanen goes back for some added value and someone who could crack CLB's lineup.

Assumes Bozak is picked up, although it could also be Brendan Leipsic or Kerby Rychel.

Here are the extensions I would give out before the start of the year.

Boone Jenner 38.5million for 7yrs (5.50AAV)
William Nylander 10million for 3 yrs (3.33AAV)
Leo Komarov 8.3million for 2 years (4.15AAV)
Nikita Soshnikov 8.2 for 4years (2.05AAV)
Connor Carrick 14million for 4 years (3.50AAV)
Martin Marincin 14.5million for 5 years(2.90AAV)

These signings give the Leafs cap friendly long term deals, Locking up Jenner for his prime at a reasonable cost for a 30 goal scorer with a physical element, unless Nylander proves to be an already stable top six option I think this would be the best for him, a bridge contract to see if he can hold down a top six position. A severance package for uncle Leo who has been so good to the Leaf organization, his contract won't interfere with Matthew's or Marner's. Soshnikov will probably be a top nine forward so we get a discount because of his RFA status. Carrick if he develops the way we hope could be a Shattenkirk type and excel on the powerplay and play top 4 minutes will give the Leafs some good value, could be a tad larger or smaller based on his performance. Marincin is given the Gunnarson contract, unless he can play bigger minutes he'll stay a defensive bottom six defender. JVR contract is questionable, he would probably want 7 years and 6 million and at 29 it might be better to let him walk. I would prefer around 5 years and 6 million at most.

Note: Lilejgren's contract includes all rookie bonuses to better reflect the extent of his cap smile

I think the draft picks are the wrong year? Regardless, I think the leafs should take the best available, if Patrick is the best player available draft Patrick and trade Kadri for D help.

Oops, you're right meant to be 2017 picks, and that's a fair point!
