Drysdale will not be NHL ready next year. I'll take Raymond, Rossi, or Drysdale on an ELC for my rebuilding team any day over Nylander.

In what reality is nylander worth a top 5 pick. People must think 60 point winners are really rare or something.

He's probably worth a top 15 pick but when you have players like Connor Zary who had similar points to Dach last year and out produced Cozens this year, yet are expected to fall to around #20, I start to really wonder on value

I would put my money on a guy like Drysdale or Raymond being better than Nylander. No way Ottawa does this.

All these people thinking Nylander isn’t worth a top 10 pick... Nylander is a first line winger. he is fast, can start plays, can finish plays also scores a lot of goals from in front of the net. Nylander is a good player. no doubt. he needs work on the defensive side of things and some physicality but that is about it. nylander with brady tkachuk and colin white could be a pretty scary line. wouldn’t hurt to have a guy like Nylander on your team. in this stacked draft idk if nylander gets a top 5 pick, but top 10, if a team wanted him, easy.

Are you telling me B. Tkachuk - White - Nylander is a more menacing line than B. Tkachuk - Byfield - Raymond? No chance

Nylanders defense isn’t good so let’s focus on points. In the last 2 years nylander is 97th overall In ppg. He’s scored 30 goals 1 time and averages 60 points a year. Use common sense and not bias opinions. He’s not Marner he’s not Matthews. His value isn’t close to top 5. His value is slightly better than Domi... mid level 1st maybe a prospect

I think everyone is underestimating how GMs value established players. Especially cost controlled at reasonable price for years. Nylander is still young and you know what you get. The draft is kind of a crap shoot. and others could be a total bust we just don’t know yet. There are plenty of players who look great and either don’t make it or end up being far below what they were projected (insert Alexandre Daige)

Yeah look at the last 3 5th overall picks.
Pettersson
Hayton
Turcotte

Yeah no GM is risking a Pettersson type for a 60 point winger lol. Top 10 picks risk/ reward are much better than nylanders. He’s not a rare generational player. 97 other players have better ppg than him the last 2 years.

Haha I mean it’s true... A little nylander humbling is never a bad thing. I think he’s a great player but he’s not Marner good and people think he is

He’s a consistent 60 point player. That’s good but some people stretch him to a 80-100 player weight class lol. Drives me insane

I'm inclined to give him a little more benefit of the doubt. Back to 61's in his first two years - ****ty contract dispute season, but followed it up big with a nearly 40 goal (71 point) pace. Wouldn't be surprised to see the goal scoring slow down a bit (shot a high percentage this year, but that's also partially a result of him adapting his game to shoot more from high percentage areas, so you never know), but I'm optimistic that he can maintain his play from this season.

Raymond at 5? ok then. i would not take him at 5. Laf, Stutzle, Byfield, Rossi, Drysdale then maybe Raymond just because Raymond with Zegras would be scary in the future. However and argument could be made that Perfetti is also better.

Nylander is stuck on a team with 3 forwards better than him also constantly being criticized by Toronto media and fans. put him somewhere where he isn’t in the face of the media and where he isn’t shadowing 3 better players and I bet he could surprise a lot of people.

Nylander is stuck in the shadows of Matthews, Tavares and Marner. also constantly being criticized by the media and fans in Toronto. If he were on a different team with less media pressure and I bet he’d surprise A LOT of people. he was on pace for 71 points and 37 goals.
You might’ve also missed where i said “if a team wanted him” someone like Minnesota. they don’t have a top 10 pick but Kaprizov - Unnamed Player - Nylander... that’d be scary if Kaprizov lives up to the hype.
