Oh certainly JVR carries more value. Both players are still on the hook for 3 more years, really its a savings of 1.75mil and a 3rd rounder

But Id rather have Giroux, Lindblom and Farabee at LW next year, with TK, Voracek and Frost at RW. JVR is a floater, Lucic is an enforcer and hitter. I'd rather have a guy wasting 12 minutes a night on the 4th line than a guy wasting 16 minutes on the 3rd.

Better yet, maybe CGY should retain 750k.

So I've been playing with JVRs contract also. We'd obviously like to dump his contract all together, but at the very least I think it is important we bring back a contract similar to his that expires a year sooner.

If we can bring back a player that has 1 less year on their contract that'll open up money for the Coots, G, Farabee, Frost, Zamula FA years. Even though some of those will be RFA and a bit cheaper, we will need all the cash we can get. Just an idea.

CGY takes that and runs. Despite the increased cap hit, they'll be getting a player who can at least contribute.
