    Then who would you pick? And risto being useless? You are incorrect unless it turns out like the barrie trade. I am very open to debate who would be the best candidate without trading the big 4. Because dubis ain't doing that. Also restore is a good player he's no top 5 in the league but an upgrade from this past season.

    you go for a trusty defensive defenceman with a lower cap hit. I'd sign demelo before trading for Risto, for example.

    Risto is very useless. He's like a big, worse offensively, equally abysmal defensively Barrie. He's not the guy. There are other options

    Rielly and Risto would combine to break the nhl record for worst single season +/-, Risto has all the defensive prowess of Barrie... possibly less. Can only play against other teams bottom 6.

    I feel like he'll cost more than he's worth though. I like him too, but north of $4m - $4.25m on a deal of 4 years or longer would be a major red flag for me

    ok u see your point but this still is something dubis may actually do or consider. We know something will change on the blue line but don't know who's staying and who's going. This is one of many possibilities that passes through Dubas' mind. My thought process was what would dubas do. Try and make a deal better than the barrie trade and this was the first thing that came to mind.

    It's not fair but with the situation in Buffalo, the flat cap and the fact that they need to score more to make the playoffs before jack echel walks or wants out of Buffalo. There will be moves made out of desperation and not always will it be good. Also look at the kapanen trade made hours or evan minutes after I made this basically kapanen for 2020 1st round pick and Filip Hollander with the other 4 pieces exchanging themselves so am I completely bonkers to suggest this ?
