Ya sorry Savard is okay, but I think CLB fans over rate him, I know goaltending was an issue but the blue jackets allowed the second most goals in the league, he's probably a number 4 defenseman at best which is alright but not a number 1 centerman worthy

Sorry jackets man but this isn't one of your better deals, from a Jackets perspective. When you break this down, the Jackets give up savard & fowler and receive draisaitl & a 3rd? And giving up Hartnell & Milano for Stoner? Not sure this really helps them at all.

It is a three team trade. Sum of the parts make the deal. For instance, the sum of Fowler and Savard equal Draisaitl with money retained on Savard. That is fair wouldn't you agree?

Lol Jacketsman i thought we were through this. Can't throw Hartnell into trades like nobodies watching and expect it to be applauded.

Draisaitl for Savard might work technically. Going on the Hall for Larsson method it could work. The thing is that was then this is now. If Chiarelli trades Hall and Draisaitl for two top 4 dmen he should never be allowed to GM another team ever again. He should be banned from hockey all together. He got smoked in the last trade and has a track record of trading high profile top end talented players for worse returns.

So yes technically it could work in reality but my money is on him being super conservative going forward. His reputation and potential future career is riding on Larsson playing well enough to be a top 2 dman.

As for the overall trade I just don't see it happening.

In the end, all I see is stoner, draisaitl & a 3rd coming in and Savard, Hartnell, Milano, a 2nd, and $1.25M going out. Draisaitl will be very good someday, I don't know enough about Stoner, I'm just not convinced this makes the Jackets a better team now or in the future on the ice. It did cut over $4M in Payroll, that's a good thing.

Jackets would be silly not to take this trade offer. It makes them better even now. They have enough dman depth. What they are missing is an impact centerman. Draisaitl can be that guy. Savard will always be a top 4 guy at best.

F50marco I see what your saying. However, Hartnell still contributes 40 to 50 points. In losing Stoner, Anaheim gains cap. And I did leave something off on purpose. The CBJ could retain salary on Hartnell as well if that is what it takes. Flexibility is there. The value is not bad either. But what would get this closer in your opinion?

If EDM trades Draisaitl then they deserve to finish bottom 5 for their entire existence.

All honesty? There's too much unnecessary added here. Guys like Stoner, Lander and Hartnell only muddy up the trade. They are unwanted parts that only make the trade hard to understand. So lets take them out.

Now,
Columbus trades: Milano, Savard, 2nd rounder, ____________.
Anaheim trades: Fowler, ________.
Edmonton trades: Draisaitl, 3rd rounder___________.

To get a true idea of value here, keep adding draft picks to each teams offer in order to make the value for every team equal here. Let me know what your result is. We'll be able to get an idea of players values before we start muddying it up some more.
