rodrigues wouldnt take that when he can just take his QO at 2 million for 1 year. if they keep him, it will either be at 2 for 1 year or he might take slightly less for 2 years (think 1.75-1.85)

Make them 2nd rounders or prospects, the point is to clear space.

Yeah, Kerfoot is not worth a late 1st rounder, let alone the 8OA. Just because the Pens make horrible trades does not mean that everyone else will start over paying for 3rd lineers.

I don't think the Leafs will qualify him to begin with.
They will likely try to negotiate something quite a bit lower than is QO, and if they can't work something out, let him walk as a UFA.
(Good luck to him trying to get anywhere close to $2M as a UFA in a flat cap year after being a 27 y/o healthy scratch at times this year)

You have to be kidding me. Just because JR is senile and needs to be in a retirement home, doesn't mean every other GM is like that. No one is giving up a 1st and a good prospect for Andreas ****ing Johnsson

even if leafs walk away , he could still take that 1 year QO unless he wanted to try the market like youre saying (risky). hes from TOR so seems like a win for him to get $2M and be close to home.

He can't take the QO if the Leafs don't offer it in the first place. They don't have to make a QO to him at all.
I think what you're thinking is if the Leafs try to walk away from an Arb ruling... but I don't even think it gets to Arb, because I don't think they will qualify him at all.
