I kinda think McDavid is worth more than that, add in Teravainen + Fleury (Haydn)

I didn't know you could acquire a generational player locked up for 6 more years for

a guy with top 6 potential
a top 4 dman
a 2nd line center who fell off
a late 1st
and an early 2nd

Imagine trading the best player in the game, who's only 23, and not getting one superstar back. Just 4 good players. That would be very upsetting. You'd get less offensive production out of the forwards (Trochek, Gourde and Necas) at a higher collective cap hit than 97 would generate on his own. That would be a very underwhelming return indeed. could probably find 29 other teams to beat that offer.

If I were trading McDavid to the Canes (only if he requested it), it would start with Sebastian Aho +, not Vincent Trochek.

Honestly even I think it's an underwhelming deal, but is this or is this not a better all-around team that could make it farther in the playoffs?

Furthermore, Canes don't give up Aho or Svech in the deal cause then they face the exact same issue as the Oilers - no surrounding talent for the superstar

If the Canes don't give up Svech or Aho, they can go **** themselves

McDavid is worth so much more than that. Add Svench, Aho and Slavin then we can start talking
