Mantha has never hit 50 points or 30 goals. Yes he has paced well in PPG, but he cant stay healthy. No reason for Detroit to want him for 8 years at 8 mil. I love Mantha, but he isnt worth more than 6.5 on any term.

I mean he was getting paid 5M this season and NYIs paid a 2nd round pick and a prospect for him. I'm pretty sure a team will be willing to pay him for the intangibles he brings.

Sure sign him as cheap as you can but I mean its not like that's gonna push Detroit over the salary cap (or even close to it) on a 1 year deal.

Mantha is definitely on the edge of being really good and a little better than average and personally I don't mind Detroit overpaying Mantha a bit. Mantha said he likes being in Detroit and wants to sign a long term contract here in Detroit and we don't need to give him a reason to leave. But thats just my opinion. I don't see Galchenyuk signing in Detroit and I don't think Detroit should sign Leivo. Detroit will more than likely be drafting a winger and with Helm and Abdelkader being almost untradeable I think it would be smarter to go after a LD, a center or a goalie (if your Rangers deal doesn't happen). If Boston lets Krug walk him signing in Detroit is a very real possibility considering both he and his wife are from and still have family in the area. If we see Veleno this season it will be later in the season.
